I’m guessing both.

This off-season is already off to a discouraging start with Farabee, Ellis, and Fedotov.
I think outside of JG, no one will want to come here. And hopefully he doesn’t want to either.

Trading future assets seems like a high probability. Trading that 2024 pick especially.

With all the bad news already about next season, even they should be very guarded about 2023 picks, including 2nd rounders.

I have no problem trading draft picks for RFAs, because you're trading a lottery ticket for a proven NHL performer who is still cost controlled. It's when you trade high picks for players in their late 20s/early 30s, then pay them top dollar, you get in trouble.

Do you want a high risk 18 year old or a lower risk 22 year old?

Now if you're talking #5, there are few players worth that pick, but if you're talking 2nd and 3rd rd picks, a proven player is usually a better bet.

Let's wait and see, it's standard OP to call everyone and ask about their availability and cost, sometimes to gather information, sometimes to create leverage for another deal.

Holy shit just use your own assets to draft your own Debrincat and numerous other players instead of spending them on someone else's Debrincat. Fletcher is woeful.
I don't understand why people keep complaining the Flyers have no identity. "Buy high, sell low" is absolutely an iron-clad identity.

I suspected the reported offer Hawks turned down as being from Flyers

- High 1st (5th overall)
- Additional 1st (Panthers 2024)
- Player/Prospect

If it is Flyers do you think Chuck comes back around before draft or moves on?

There are certainly packages from Flyers that could work from Hawks POV

Whatever they want, Chuck will give them. There’s one thing we know about Chuck, he always gets his man!

He will undoubtedly come back around and offer way more than Debrincat is worth.

They really could have just hung on to Giroux, for what would have likely been a reasonable new contract.

Instead of burning assets, and long term cap space.

Its almost as if you could have drafted Caufield instead of York at 14. (And if you like the safer York instead of Caufield that is fine. No need to rehash.)

Or you could have taken Debrincat instead of Laberge.

But don't worry. We will get good players with our 2's in 22 and 23.

#sarcasm.

Sure, but why not overpay assets for a player who has 1 year of control left so that you have absolutely no negotiating leverage when it comes to negotiating their next contract so you can get taken behind the woodshed for the same player a SECOND time.

Stop me if you've seen this movie before with some of the characters reprising their roles.

Preach it!

Its watching Jack and Jill after the previous Sandler bombs and hoping THIS IS GOING TO BE THE SANDLER FILM AS GOOD AS HAPPY GILMORE!

You trade the 5th, Frost, & Tippett for DeBrincat in a heartbeat.

York is whom you don’t want to give up.

This is a 100% true. Teams do exactly that, ask for the moon at first. But what you fail accept is that Sir Flutchalot pays those premiums, no questions asked
