You do not pay that much for Debrincat if you are in the Flyers' situation. They aren't close to winning. They have no depth. It's pointless.
This 100%.

If you are say the rangers, have a ton of depth and can win a cup then yes you make this offer.

If you are the pens/bruins/caps and at the end of the run you make a decision if you are close enough or pass.

Teams 2 years away from being 2 years away have ZERO BUSINESS TRADING FOR PLAYERS WITH ONE YEAR LEFT ON THE CONTRACT.

Desperate GMs do desperate things. Desperate orgs do desperate things. They’re not worth your time. Why does nothing ever work out for them? Because they’re run incompetently and need the stars to align to get anywhere. They‘ll pay to dump whoever, pay through the nose to acquire someone, and Tortorella will have them back in the Playoffs while still not being relevant.

This year was an aberration of bottoming out. The Flyers’ identity is mediocrity. They’re now leaning into being a team that efforts their way toward the top of the mediocrity trough. What’s left of their fanbase may actually be happy with that. If you’re not, I cannot endorse ceasing to care enough. It’s bliss.

Oh you sweet summer child, have no fear. Cuck will massively overpay as much as necessary or more to extend his new toy. For reference, see Fistolainen, Fisto.

For months, we’ve been expecting the Flyers to step up to the free-agency plate and take Ruthian swings with Comcast’s chequebook. Then came Chuck Fletcher’s pre-draft availability, when he was asked about Ryan Ellis. “It’s still difficult, if not impossible, to predict where he’ll be in two or three months,” the GM said. “The last month has been encouraging, but there’s still more work to do.” So, here’s the question: what if this means the prudent path in Philadelphia is to target two to four pieces instead of one big one — especially if Ellis needs to be replaced? At the very least, it’s been discussed, but it’s hard to predict where this is going to go. Philadelphia’s history is to go big or bust. The Flyers are one of the teams that have legitimately pitched Chicago on DeBrincat — more than just tire-kicking — and they’ve tested the market on many of their players. I’ve always assumed they were a legit landing spot for Gaudreau. It may be a draft-week smokescreen, but are they considering a late-game audible?

This is the full piece on the Flyers in Friedman’s recent 32 Thoughts.

The sad irony is that the Flyers are not willing to rebuild (according to Charlie O) because of existing contracts and cap constraints that are entirely the making of this management group. They willingly and systematically backed themselves into a corner.

The only one you can blame on Hextall would be JVR, and I'd bet that Chuck will be the one paying to move him.

Heard it myself.

I don’t really understand the thinking. I mean, just this last season this showed that they were quite easily a bottom 5 team.

Long contracts are in place, but the movement to acquire a truly high end young core could have begun. Couturier alone wouldn’t have been enough to lift them into the playoffs, especially if they had the nerve to move someone like Provorov, or Sanheim who is on a very affordable contact for next season.

The continued reason for not rebuilding very much smells of ego, desperate ownership, and men unable to acknowledge their vision for how to build a contender in ‘22 simply doesn’t work. I’ve been a fan since ‘97 or so - they have never really rebuilt in my time following them. It’s an organization belief sadly.

People will point at the NYR, but Chicago along with Montreal are possibilities to lap them in a few years.

Here are some hopes: (1) that the Hawks aren't really offering Debrincat around and are doing a bunch of pre-negotiation posturing with the player's camp. He really is the only young offensive threat on the club; (2) That the Hawks are using the supposed offer from Philly to get another club to elevate what they are willing to pay in order to obtain Debrincat; (3) That Scott steps in and tells Fletcher that he can't make that deal for Debrincat.
Blackhawkswincup in the Hawk's forum thinks that the Flyers offer would be:
Flyers 2022 1st (5th overall)
Panthers 2024 1st
RW Bobby Brink
LW James Van Riemsdyk (Flyers need to move his salary to add Debrincat)
IMO, that's an atrocious proposal but it's the state of affairs when a club has a GM that the rest of the League knows that they can roll over. Obtaining Debrincat does little to solve the team's real problems-need for RHD and a center.

Atkinson as well, since Voracek for Atkinson was simply swapping bad contracts.

That's a Blackhawk fan wish list.

I'm not going anywhere EVER now that I know you want me to delete my account because my hyperbolic takes are too aggravating for your uptight self-serious ass.

Go ahead and block me if it'll make your experience here more palatable.

Actually, since you can seemingly only tolerate your own posts, why don't you just block everyone?
If I took this crap as seriously as you claim and can only tolerate my own posts, then you would already be blocked. Obviously, you are not.

But it seems like you should block me since you clearly can’t handle someone pointing out that your bizarro-deadhead shtick is equally as tiresome. You love to dish out criticism, but wow you can really can’t take it even a little bit. At least when I mock something deadhead wrote, he doesn’t have a pity party to cry about it.:nopity:
