Slaf had a really good game against the Devils, even though the Habs as a whole did not. He had 4 shots on goal and all of them were really good scoring chances. He also just missed the net twice within a few seconds on one of the shifts. That is 6 shot attempts in 12 minutes of ice time. He looks ripe for a bump up to the 2nd line in my opinion. You hear me Marty? ;)

this is nothing similar to what Slaf did. Slaf was behind, these two were side by side racing to the puck, col player pushed carolina's player on his lateral side. They were almost making eye-contact. Obviously a hard hit but a completly fair one.

Zero similarities whats so ever.
Was 100% a cross check. He used his stick to separate the defender from the puck.

Marty was slow to get him on the pp. I'm not holding my breath on a long overdue move to the top 6 happening imminently. But it's the right move Marty. Let's go already!

Slaf needs to move up the lineup. I understand why he's playing on a lower line but time has come to promote him and drop the underperformers. MSL has been fantastic as doling out ice time fairly and on actual merit, so I'm confident Slaf will be moved up to the 3rd sooner than later and hopefully moves up higher after being paired with some talent.

Really? There is a conspiracy agains Canadiens? Common...
Has been since the days of Maurice Richard and the horrible biased refereeing that he had to fight against. A modern day example: Chris Lee, statistically proven to be biased against the Habs. Also Toronto.. come on now.. you can literally drag Carey Price out of his net and score a goal and it’s not goalie interference, I’ve never seen something so blatantly ridiculous in the NHL.

I like what I see from Slafkovsky but am curious to see if at some point, it turns into more production. I've been wondering lately how he will stack up against the first overall wingers drafted over the last few seasons. For example, is it realistic that he would outproduce Alexis Lafreniere's rookie season (56GP - 12G - 9A - 21P - 0.38 PPG)?

I think after Christmas we will see his ice time increase. Im fine with the limited minutes and slow increase in responsibility. He is gonna be such a stud
I think I agree with this.

Selfishly, I'd rather see him play more since he's a first overall pick and fun to watch, but overall, I think MSL's approach to Slaf has been smart.

Offensively hed be perfect on that first line but his defense isnt there and god knows CC and Nick need help.

Id really like if they tried him and Dach on that 2nd line. Just ask Slaf to shoot it on sight, his shooting is so good.

He's playing 11:10 on average per game on the 4th line.
Laf was playing 13:53 on average per game as a middle 6.

Until Slaf gets more TOI and better linemates, it is unlikely he gets much assists to outproduce Laf, but he will probably finish with more goals since his goal per 60 is higher than Laf was in his first season.

It’s not necessarily more icetime that he needs, I have no issue with 12-13 mins a game. But the quality of his linemates needs to change. Evans had a better game but he’s been really poor this year. Pezzetta isn’t even an NHLer. Slafkovsky can’t get an offensive rhythm going, his line is often in the defensive zone and once they get any type of presence in the offensive zone, it’s the end of the shift.

He also needs to be on PP1. His shot needs to be respected and his passing is elite. Put him the opposite side of Cole and they’d have so many more options.

I’ve watched a few Rangers games and Lafrenière looks slower than Slafkovsky and less involved in the game. He looks like he has Top-6 skills but otherwise nothing special. With the benefit of hindsight, it kind of surprises me that he was so dominant in the Q. It might be a case that he just takes more time to peak. 100% of Rangers fans would trade Lafrenière for Slafkovsky 1 for 1.

If he maintains his current ice time and linemates, then likely not.

Giant skilled 18 year old… You can see the dynamic of the opposition shift when he’s on the ice. Not like he’s taking control of the game, but you can notice it. Just my .02. This kid is going to be terror once he matures.

It's funny. You can find a similar complaint on almost every other team's forums.

Not thinking about development at all, just based on merit and positional fit in the lineup, he should be somewhere in the middle six.

Which makes me think MSL is intentionally slowing him down. The logic is probably thinking that it's better err on the side of being too good for your role than not good enough for your role. Also managing his ice-time to keep his energy up.

While I trust Marty, I hope he starts to get sprinkles of opportunity more and more.

You can work him into a bigger role without playing him 15 minutes imo.

I ntoiced that Slafkovsky really kept possession of the puck in the 1st period. The Devils aren't used to not being able to quickly get the puck and quickly transition up the ice. Sadly his linemates are prone to losing the puck when he eventually passes to them.
