I don’t care either way. My position was that if Slaf rly wanted to go, he should go. There’s hardly anything to lose.

You decided to take umbrage and plant your flag on this molehill of a topic.
All I did was what everyone else does here, and advanced my opinion on the topic, respectfully I might add.

In response, all i've had is folks try to censor me.

Only for an article to come out and essentially echo my exact thoughts.

It is funny you say I "planted my flag on a molehill" when from the beginning i've been consistent.

- If he's not playing, sending him to WJC makes complete sense.

- if he's a part of the team and has a role, like he has currently, sending him to the WJC is not something the team is going to do.

Seems pretty reasonable to me.

And for the record, what Slafkovsky wants is irrelevant in this context. It's not his decision.
And you won, now you’re the expert. Congrats to you.
Was never a competition, you just don't seem to grasp the concept of a discussion forum.

The fact you can't help but make discussions personal rather than focus on the topic, is YOUR issue. Not mine.

Either way, I love the smoke...so bring it anytime lol.

When you say things like "red flags if he does go to WJC" people will question your extreme opinion. If he stays or goes shouldn't be any sort of "Red flag" its such a short time period that the chance that it ruins anything about Slafkovsky's development is laughable. @417 you are also very combative with your responses so don't try and play the poor censored victim here.

Now as to the tournament.

I personally think that a lot of people here have become numb to the WJC because Canada is expected to win and usually does win.

picture this..

Canada hasn't won the WJC for the past 10 years and hasn't even gotten a medal. This year it looks like there is a really good crop of young players.
teams like these

If you were one of those young players wouldn't you want to try to go for it all with this team and bring glory to your country?

I'm sorry that triggered you, as I explained in a subsequent post.

I wasn't suggesting condemning him for eternity as a traitor, just that I would find it peculiar for him to want to go play there, under the current circumstances (where he's playing and contributing).

I certainly don't mind being questioned on my opinion, in fact I welcome it, but that's not quite what happened and I don't think my take is unreasonable.

I don't really care for the wjc all that much anymore to be honest, I used too when I was younger.

Sure...which he did.

But now if it were me, I'm an NHL player, drafted 1st overall and i’m playing and contributing on an NHL team.

There's no way I'm giving that up. I'm a professional hockey player now.

But again, as i’ve said several times, that's just me.

Notice I said "try" to censor me.
There are worse things on these boards… Try dealing with an OT thread about battling fruit flies being summary moved to the kooks in the Lounge”!
I’ll never forget that thread.

Only one of them really thinks he should go and most of his reasons are self-serving and not necessarily what's best for the Montreal Canadiens and THEIR prospect.

This was basically just a fluff piece.

But cool story I guess.
Considering he’s still here after his 9 games, and given he remains here and isn’t sent down, it’s because they think he gives our team the best chance to win. They won’t be sending him away during the middle of the season if he’s a regular. I think some people have heard about Seattle sending Wright to that tournament and think we should do the same with Slaf, but Wright is in a unique situation where the team who holds his CHL rights is likely complicating him being sent down so he’s stuck in a bad situation. As long as Slafkovsky is under contract with this team and receiving a paycheque, he’s under full control. I’ve never heard of a player who’s made the NHL asking to leave to play in the World Juniors. It’s not the Olympics.

Adding certain posters to the ignore list was the best decision I ever made. I don’t have to come on here and read posts all day from a specific poster refusing to take a position as he/she had done throughout Marc Bergevin’s entire decade long destruction of the Habs franchise.

I’ve never seen a poster write so much and say so little. I’m thankful that headache is no more.

Man no one cares about your ignore list .

Imagine going through the trouble of putting someone on ignore, only to “sub-post” them all the time.

Godspeed lol

I've never understood why people feel to need to speak about people they supposedly ''ignore''. The whole purpose of them being on your ignore list is to not think about them, and yet they make a post dedicated to people whose posts have been omitted from their feed. Kind of contradictory.

Slafkovsky thread not on the 1st page? This is a disgrace! Clearly Habs fans don't deserve him! They should trade him to a team who's fans will treat them right!

There's a saying I don't remember, but usually when they don't talk about you it means you're doing something good; just look at Nick spooky Suzuki, I never see his thread anywhere yet he's the captain of this boat.

Has Slafs two game suspension been finished yet? The only good thing he could have done recently would be writing lines on the chalkboard saying "I will not hit between he numbers" while MSL watches on.

you know... Slafkovsky does sort of look like Bart Simpson.

Last game being served tonight.

I like the kid's progression and feel like for the moment the NHL is the best environment for him. Still need to work on his balance and positioning, but he seems more assertive and to read the play a bit better. If we see some decline in his play, then the AHL could be considered. Don't think the WCJ makes sense for him at the moment, as that would make him unavailable for a month with a competition level that's inferior to the AHL (when not playing against the top 4 nations).

The kid will be back next Tuesday and you know who, will have to sit!!
We are almost rid of Drouin, Dadonov, and the injured Paul Byron.

He's watching the games, gaining insight. He's resting, his body isn't used to the toil of the NHL. I don't think it's time wasted. He's not in recess like Bart lol! He's not losing his time.
