I would suggest that in a few years the burning question may well be if Wright warranted being selected in the first round let alone 1 OA. Go to the Krakken board and read what their anxious fans are saying as the aura of the prevailing consensus is being stripped away: bit by bit.
I would suggest we will have to agree to disagree on this. Shane Wright is going to be a star in this league imo.

... Like Slaf... in 4-5 years.

The problem is that they are all lying.
🤦‍♂️. So what you’re saying is there is no difference between something happening due to wreckless behaviour or carelessness vs planning/premeditating an action and then carrying it out? Ok. Society does not agree with you, but ok.

Sometimes it is very hard to judge. And let's get back to hockey, please !

It will be interesting to see who is correct. But I think you are raising the bar a bit high on this player. I harbour no ill will towards Wright. He'll play in the NHL for sure, but closer to the level of journeyman than star. But we shall see who's crystal ball is clearer. Cheers.

Wright is an entitled goofball who appears to not really have a passion for the game. Much of his success in juniors also came from physically maturing before most of his peers. Pretty easy to know which one to bet on.

So Slaf (or any NHL rookie) never played the game before ? They are on skates since they are 2 years old and play since their childhood in organized teams with coaches and referees. They know the rules.

Not at NHL speed against players as fast and strong as NHLers. It would be hard to find the balance between wanting to show your physicality, protecting yourself, making the right play, etc. Would be easy to do too much, especially when you are trying to earn your place.
MSL chimes in:

Well Slaf, that suspension ties up last nights officiating. Your a big boy, you’re gonna get a lot of bad calls. This one was too close to the boards.
I don’t often bitch about reffing (I leave that to leaf fans, lol) however the calls in last nights game reminded me of jr or AHL……the nhl looks like a developmental league with a number of their younger refs.

Diplomacy is always the smart move regardless of what his personal opinion actually is. Agree with what he said anyway, and the honesty and openness is refreshing.
MSL is consistent. He said he coaches tendencies not mistakes.
That's perfect approach.

I knew it was a suspension as soon as he did it. Almost a carbon copy of Anderson's hit.

I just hope this doesn't make him hesitant going forward.

Luff is out 10-12 weeks…. that’s why Slaf got suspended - no games lost due to injury no suspension

Yet, I think last game showed that he has his limits. Drouin is on a very tight leash now, but MSL doesn't want to totally destroy whatever is leaf of his confidence.

Well… it makes sense doesn’t it?

Not really if a player gets hurt or not it's often a matter of luck. Slafkovsky could do the same hit 10 times and he may get hurt 5 of them but the actual action is what should be suspendable or not. They say the goal of a suspension is to make sure players no longer commit the act that warranted the suspension and that seems like it should be true whether there is an injury or not.

Are you planning on keeping things on topic for once?

Amazon warehouse, slaves...

Stay on script man.

Like you said and i've said about a dozen times now, the Montreal Canadiens are running a business...and their business is not looking after the Slovakian National Junior Team.
But it would be so cool for some of the fans here to live vicariously through Slaf at the WJC, that it must be true that Slaf wants this too and will ask his boss to let him go for his fans' sake.

Galchenyuk needed to work on his skating and defensive work and was instead rushed to the NHL where he never improved. The club didn’t make the same mistake with Suzuki and it is paying dividends now. They didn’t have the chance to rush Caufield, thankfully, but the previous administration did their best to try to ruin him too.

Kotkaniemi and Mete were both rushed with no consideration of their development.

Romanov was clearly not rushed, no need to bring him up, not Lehkonen… but both are limited offensively.

Developing playmaking ability is not this organization’s strong suit — and as we saw with Galchenyuk, Kotkaniemi, and Mete every player rushed in has stagnated big time. Hopefully this doesn’t happen with Slaf.
I don't think it was so much of Chuck being rushed as much as it was that his coach continually messed with him. He was the worst handled prospect since Wickenheiser. And he STILL produced. Just a shame he got injured and then had CJ come in and screw with him all over again.

As for Slaf, he's about as physically ready as Wickenheiser was. Big kid who can handle things physically. I just think that giving him some time in lower leagues would help.

send him down because he laid out a guy? That's just stupid. He's producing points while stuck with Beer League Gallagher for crying out loud. If you want him to get a pounding, send him to the AHL its the wild west, full of guys on their last stop, nothing to lose.
Helped Kyle Connor and a slew of others. I am not criticizing his skill level or draft selection. There definitely are some kinks that need to be ironed out and if he can do that on the first line instead of the 3rd or 4th at 18 whats wrong with that? All i am saying it would not be the end of the world. His size and everything will make him an elite player but learning to control his play and develop some aspects of his game if needed I would not shut the door on it altogether.

This really cannot be good for Slaf mentally....

To get suspended so soon, after he just started to hit...

Absolutely terrible worse case scenario....
