I've seen enough to know the kid is worth it, his skill set is there, his mentality is there.

It's like watching Doughty play with.....no one, not even a Kopitar or a Quick, I'm more than ok with who and what Chycrun is and the price it would take to acquire him.
We’ll just agree to disagree

Acquiring Chychrun is a Richards type of trade. Some will love it and some will hate it.

How so? Richards was a known winner who led his team to the SCF… what has Chychrun done again?

He's a guy who helps elevate the team to the next level. A desperately needed LHD who is only 23 years old and who has 30 goals in the past two years on a low scoring team. This is the type of move Blake needs to make to make the team better both now and in the future. I can't think of a more impactful player who is actually available right now than Chychrun.

So in theory your logic goes, we should only trade for people who have won before?
In reality, if anyone suggest two players are comparable and would have similar impacts…
One would expect that be the case, as such, how would acquiring Chychrun be equal to acquiring Richards?

That may be so, but you absolutey canot over pay. Look at the Eichel deal by comparison. The guy is a top five player in the league, is 24 and signed for five more seasons. On the other hand, he was injured and had a huge cap hit. By comparison Chychrun is not a top 20 D-man (yet) but plays on a lousy team and has a great contract that we can extend if we so choose given our cap space. Thus, Eichel's deal should be the absolute ceiling, and even that should be too high. So we are looking at:

an established middle six winger/d-man - Iafallo or Bjornfot
a middle of the first roud draft choice from 2 years ago - Vilardi or Kupari
#1 pick top 10 protected this year, not next
# 3 pick next year (we have an extra if Carter palys 50 games this season)

This move would reek of desperation, for a still rebuilding team to give up assets for a player that yes, scored 30+ goals the last 2 seasons but has allowed more. How exactly does this help? He also doesn’t address the lack of physicality and toughness we need.
Pairing Chychrun with Doughty effectively converts Drew into a defensive Dman to compensate for Jakob’s defensive shortcomings

10th in Norris trophy voting last year.

It would be desperation if he was 30 and it was a last playoff attempt for the aging core but he is a young player that could play with Clarke for the next decade.
I agree about needing toughness but he has good size and that helps. He isnt soft.

Werenski
Ekbald
Seider
Dahlin
Chabot
McAvoy
Bouchard
Trouba
Jones
Fox
Sergachev
Cernak
Provorov
Romanov
Makar
Girard
Heiskanen
Drysdale
Byram
Toews
Graves

Cernak, Provorov, Romanov, Girard, Byram, Toews, Graves have no business on that list, that's laughable at best....

Trouba, Dahlin, Heiskanen are 50/50

The rest, sure, but funny how you say Chycrun has only one good season, then you put up guys like Bouchard, Chabot, Seider, etc.

You’re assuming the ask would include Clarke…
Consider what is realistically an untouchable Kings prospect list.. they wouldn’t trade Byfield, Turcotte or Kaliyev for Eichel and that was before it got ugly and he revealed he wanted the surgery..
they aren’t trading multiple 1st as they want to keep the pipeline going while they continue their build.. I see them doing what the Dodgers did, most are suggesting they pulls off a Lakers Anthony Davis deal.. both obviously led to a championship but one path is looking much better than the other

well there’s no need to continue this discussion

I really like Chychrun, and I would give up valuable assets to acquire Chychrun, but holy crap is he being overrated on this site. Outside of last year with it's wonky only playing against a handful of teams (and the west was a bad division last year), Chychrun hasn't been anywhere close to elite. Outlier production in a strange year/circumstances raises an eyebrow to me. And you got people on the main board comparing him to prime Doughty and saying he's a no doubt elite #1 defenseman, which is crazy.
He scored 12 goals in 60 games in 2019.

What would you all do if Chychrun was offered for Byfield, straight up? Pull the trigger, or pass?

There is no realistic deal for Chychryn that wouldn't be a mistake for Los Angeles.

This team isn't going anywhere until it allows itself to bottom out and change focus from trying to compete now under lackluster vets - and fail - to embracing a new positive direction and attitude that comes from giving youthful enthusiasm and hunger. Adding Chychryn now at such a heavy cost would only increase the problems plaguing the organization. He would be neutered just like everybody else while management strangles the creativity of younger skilled players to try and eek out wins.

The current path here isn't about growth, it's about maintaining a long dead legacy of success. Adding Chychryn would be counterproductive. It would only serve to mask the real issues and delay what must be done.
