I know people keep projecting Brown in the bottom six but I think he'll be Kopitar's left wing hell or high water. Those two are impossible to split up.
I'm going to guess Vilardi shifts to wing, as a lot of coaches do like deploying two centers on the ice depending on faceoff location.
Iafallo-Kopitar-Arvidsson
Kempe-Danault-Vilardi
Moore-Byfield-Athanasiou
Andersson-Anderson-Dolan-Brown
Or, Byfield spends more time in the AHL, and Vilardi slides to the 3rd center spot.
The competition for depth forwards is pretty deep with Grundstrom, Lizotte, Wagner, Lemieux, Frk, Tkachyov competing for spots.
This is probably going to be the most competitive training camp the Kings will have in years. Lot of young guys who want to prove they belong, and a mix of forwards with experience trying to earn a spot as full-time regulars.
i thought LA wanted to primarily address their lack of goal scoring up front and maybe shore up the D
other than Arvidsson (who also came out of a down year), who's going to score your goals?
name your goal scorers
You imposing what you thought LA wanted to primarily address is inhibiting you from understanding the purpose of the signing.
Offense develops first. Byfield, Vilardi, Turcotte, Kaliyev, Kupari et. al. will likely become offensive contributors long before they can be relied on to shoulder the defensive responsibilities. Danault brings elements to the lineup that only the 33 year old Kopitar possesses. That's the point of the signing.
Don't think they have the cap space anymore right? Are the Kings still in on Saad or no?
yeah that reads like a "don't hold your breath" for him starting in the NHLRead Blake’s comments.
Byfield will be in the AHL - he is only 18.
Just because I’ve seen some people complain they wanted a deal closer to what Handzus got: Handzus’s deal expired when he was 34. Danault’s contract expires when he turns 34.
i understand
you're saying we won't make the playoffs this year
and if we do, it'll be purely by design arising from the weakness of our division, but not because we are capable of providing any offensive output
2.7 mil....seems a little high?
Are the Kings still in on Saad or no?
Lack the cap space for it. Would have to move some version of Brown/Quick/Maatta/Kempe to open space
Don't threaten me with a good time!
