iafallo-kopi-brown
kempe-danault arvidsson
vilardi-byfield-andersson
moore-JAD-AA

anderson-DD
bjorn-roy
edler-walker

has to be a trade in the works way too many bottom 6, wagner, lizz, grundstrom, lemiux and tkachyov

no choice, Tarasenko

like, we need to score at least 2 goals per game, that roster won't score

adding Danault and Edler solidifies the type of game we'll most likely play and i don't think it's compatible w/ McLellan's style

but who's going to score our goals? lol

Arvidsson? Vilardi? Athanasiou?

I like the Danault signing but I beg the question when do the Kings start offloading some the forwards in the group that aren't going to cut it? Kings have 19-20 forwards seriously challenging for 13-14 spots

competition for spots will hopefully elevate play

QB can’t go back to the AHL. It’s the OHL or the big club. I have a hard time believing they’ll send him back the Sudbury.

As for Frk, I see him far on the outside looking in. They didn’t bring him up what he was healthy at the end of the last season.

They made an agreement for the upcoming year that allows players under 20 who played more than 20 AHL games last season to go back next year. So QB will be eligible for Ontario.

CHL and AHL are working on agreement where payers like QB who played 20+ games in AHL last year can play in AHL this year

i thought there was some recent agreement to an exception for players that played in the A last season? maybe i was misreading something old?

So I guess the roster will be:
Kempe - Kopitar - Arvidsson
Iafallo - Danault - Moore
Andersson - Byfield - Vilardi
Grundstrom - JAD - Brown
Ex: Wagner, Lemieux

Anderson - Doughty
Edler - Roy
Maatta - Walker
Ex: Clague
(Bjornfot AHL)

Petersen
Quick

I feel like Arvidsson and Danault will play nicely together.

I don't like Vilardi and Byfield together. It will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

I smell a trade or two! The Kings need a bonafide scoring RWinger, ditto for the LWing! TSN is speculating Jack Eichel coming to LA...for who?

I think Danault signing officially put nail in Eichel to LA coffin. Need to move too much cap the other way, but Buffalo wants futures.

Think Ducks, Wild and Knights makes most sense.

And what would we do with those established players ?
Our core of Doughty, Kopitar and Brown are done. They have no ability and drive to control the game anymore.
At this point it is about riding out the contracts and especially to develop the youngsters.
Who ever is on that roster until the switch over doesn't matter at all.
Iafallo or AA or Eberle or Schwarz or Tarasenko... it doesn't matter since we are not even close to compete for a playoff spot.

I know people hate this idea but our core is 19-21 years old. We are still 3-4 years away from playoff.
There is absolutely no reason to trade for players or sign UFA's
That's your opinion and no,19 and 21 years will never be the core lol. There always be the need for veterans and trades to bring in establish players.Ownership gave Blake the ok to compete for the playoffs, their not riding out contracts.Maybe go listen to Blake's pressers.

KK & Suzuki are 21
Danault was their only C
finding a decent C was and still is, Montreal's biggest issue
this is why Danault is the "main guy" for DZ
however, he wins your faceoffs and then does not score at ALL! The fact that he doesn't have many faceoffs in the OZ means that the coach doesn't play him much in offensive situations and they'd rather LOSE a faceoff with KK & Suzuki in the OZ then to plug in Danault

So, yes he wins you faceoffs, he's a decent Carbonneau style player (or a current comparable is Eller). If your #2C is Danault that means you're weak (and yes i get the minion argument that he's bridging (6 yrs mind you) the gap with Vilardi/Byfield).

To throw 6 yrs and 5.5m at Eller, means you'd also do it for Danault as well

6 years of Danault is completely irrational and unjustifiable for such a player plus i hear there's NMC first 3 yrs?

Bad bad deal

We didn't sign this guy for his offense. Kopitar is 33, Vilardi's 21, Turcotte's 20, Byfield's 18.

How much longer can we rely on Kopitar to be our #1 PKer? How many years can we keep throwing Kopitar out there against the other team's top line?

The kids will all start racking up points and take over for Kopitar's offensive production, but which one of them, and how many years will it take until one is a capable of doing what he does on the other side of the puck? Kopitar didn't start getting Selke votes until his 5th season.

Vegas is going to be in hard on Eichel now. I think McCrimmon actually wanted both Danault and Eichel, and was ready to do some major surgery on his roster. Now the question he must answer is, "Who is my guy to shut down the other team's top offensive line?"

On a full 82-game schedule, Danault would've had 50+ points for two of the last three seasons. He scored 53 in 2018-19, had 47 in 71 games before the 2019-20 season was cancelled. The Kings haven't had a second line center score 40+ points since 2017. Every second line option they've had since that year has scored less than 40 points.

The team has zero experience down the middle after Kopitar, and these shortsighted posters are ignoring the fact that this guy can help the younger, inexperienced centers, and not force Vilardi and others to get outmatched and overwhelmed.
Hey stop with the facts,it's not allowed.

This +1. Yes Danault is a C and now we have even more extra C prospects. But really this signing makes Eichel a virtual impossibility. You'd have way too much salary at Center in lines 1-3. Plus, this signing allows the center prospects more time to develop (&/or move to wing) and not rushed into a top role. They will be ready to to take a bigger role right when Danault moves down into more of a Stoll role.

If anything, the signing means a bigger possibility of a big LHD trade in the next 3-12 months. That's where our big trade will be -- not Eichel.

i thought LA wanted to primarily address their lack of goal scoring up front and maybe shore up the D

other than Arvidsson (who also came out of a down year), who's going to score your goals?

name your goal scorers

Honestly, with what we have seen over the last few seasons, I like seeing Danault's leadership enter the room.

I believe there is more to this signing than just what he does on the ice.

A guess at the opening night roster:

Iafallo - Kopitar - Arvidsson
Byfield - Danault - Kempe
Moore - Vilardi - Brown
Grundstrom - Anderson-Dolan - Lemieux
Lizotte

Andersson wasn't traded for a 2nd rounder for nothing and then protected in the expansion draft to not ice him in the lineup... he'll make the opening night roster.

The wild card is definitely Tkachyov.

This guy was a beast in the playoffs last season. I'm convinced he was one of the few leading the charge in their Cinderella run.

Just because I’ve seen some people complain they wanted a deal closer to what Handzus got: Handzus’s deal expired when he was 34. Danault’s contract expires when he turns 34.
