I really wanted him to be one of those players who only wore one sweater, but here we are. Alex can still be very effective playing in a depth role, which is what his Contract is paying, along with being an outstanding person to mentor your youth.

Enjoy L.A. Eddy, we’ll miss you in B.C.

Just out of interest, how do you think will he make the Kings better?

This guy is a 3rd line center with 0 creativity.
Those are exactly the kind of players we don't need.

all the advance stats nerds point to the fact he drives play offensively and shuts top teams down defensively. Look at what he was able to do to Mathews. LA with Two Selke centers will be hard for teams to match up against.

you'd be too if you understood the player you got

On a full 82-game schedule, Danault would've had 50+ points for two of the last three seasons. He scored 53 in 2018-19, had 47 in 71 games before the 2019-20 season was cancelled. The Kings haven't had a second line center score 40+ points since 2017. Every second line option they've had since that year has scored less than 40 points.

The team has zero experience down the middle after Kopitar, and these shortsighted posters are ignoring the fact that this guy can help the younger, inexperienced centers, and not force Vilardi and others to get outmatched and overwhelmed.

The Kings have too many forwards now.

Iafallo-Kopitar-Arvidsson
Kempe-Danault-Vilardi
Andersson-Byfield-Brown
Athanasiou-JAD-Moore
Grundstrom-Lizotte-Wagner
Lemieux

There mathematically has to be a trade coming even with sending Byfield down.

Wagner and Lizotte both should be gone. They offer a vanilla existence. Grundstrom likely on his last legs, Lemieux nothing to be excited about. A few others place holders

you'd be cranky you if you UNDERSTOOD the player you got

now... let's go over the buyout calculator on capfriendly

I'm not a fan of the Danault signing. Too much term and too much cap.

Edler I'm meh on as it's a one-year deal.

Blake's shaping of the team is now starting to reveal itself. Looks like the Kings are staying true to their prior philosophy of defense first. Scoring is likely going to come from others, with Danault helping play the shutdown role. I suspect Byfield and Turcotte will stay in the AHL for most of the year, while Kupari gets a real audition. A lot of the plugs will probably get traded or waived by Jan. 2022 (e.g., Wagner, Lizzotte etc.).

Yep. I took a quick look at this production over the past 5 years and he averages about 56 pts for 82 games. That's middle of the pack production for a second line C. Add in his defensive skills and I'm fine with this deal.

Especially not for 6 years. I really hope there is no clause of any kind included.

The Kings have never replaced Stoll in that 3C spot, and it, among many other things, has contributed to killing the team.

AND IT IS ALL AT EVEN STRENGTH!!

I can't harp on that enough. How bad is this f***ing team 5v5???

Cap goes up towards the end of this deal and it is even less of a problem. It's like everyone sees a number and compares it to a deal signed five years ago: it's all about percent of the cap. Kings have a ton of space and a real need for this type of player.

So many on HF would never trade or sign anyone unless it is entirely lopsided. It's like most of the idiots in my fantasy football league that rarely has any trades in it because it's got to be a rape of a deal or it isn't happening.

Funny, I'm seeing some Habs fans mention it was all due to Carey Price that the they went to the Final.

Suddenly, Danault is just another guy.
