Raymond's got attitude issues. He's a kid so I don't hold it against him but it's going to hurt him a bit. He dogged it really, really hard after getting demoted last year.

I still take him at 10/11. He'll grow up and you can't teach that natural ability.
I guess we shall see But I think Raymond is too talented to drop past even the sens pick. Unless the sens are convinced they have to pick stutz and then a dman.
Hey if we pick either Swede Henriksson gets to reunite with one of his good buddies and linemates :thumbu:

Yeah I think Gorton played it correctly leading up to the deadline but unfortunately nobody bit on the deal. Having a flat cap hurts heading into the off-season as well so we'll see just how much the market softened, if at all.
A flat cap should make Georgiev more attractive to other teams. I’d think.

What do we honestly think Georgiev is worth? Is there a deal to be made around Strome on Chicago?

You have those Germans, Nybeck, Andrae, Hirvonen, some of those Americans all possibly floating around the 2nd round, I'd be ok moving Georgiev to grab one of those guys. It's a gamble I dont mind taking

We are both on this bus.

He's been my personal favorite in this draft (Along with Quinn, who the more I dig into, the more I'm starting to believe he's a borderline top 5 player in this draft and comfortably in the top 10) but we never end up with the non top guys who I love (Yamamoto, Kaut, Krebs, Rees, etc.)

And wing, Schwing. Take the best players, regardless of where they play. If you key in on a specific position, you're going to make a mistake.

I will be mildly annoyed if both he and Quinn are on the board and they take Lundell lol.

Lundell is the 3rd ranked eu skater per nhl central scouting, if anything he’s getting underrated around here. His offensive upside is being massively underrated here. If we’re picking 10th or 11th and someone like Sanderson drops, he might just be bpa. I’d be ecstatic to grab a Sanderson, Lundell, Raymond or Rossi here.

Did someone really mention we need to grab a middle six scorer here? If there’s a chance to grab a top pairing defensemen you don’t think twice, unless of course you can project an available forward as a first liner. We’ll have a chance to grab another solid forward in the 20s as well.

The Devils should be looking for a wing to play with Hughes and Hischer, so I can see a Holtz or Quinn being of interest.

He isn't our starter, might be another teams starter though, otherwise why would they trade for him?
I’m not convinced he’s capable of being a starter. But that’s really not the point, the point is that goalies just don’t have as much value as skaters. Like the highest pick we got for Talbot was #57.

Of the Germans--Stutzle is going really early--I expect him to be in the first 3. Reichel is probably somewhere between 15 and 20 and Peterka won't be long after him. They're all 1st rounders to me and I'd be happy if the Rangers grabbed one. As far as Swedish forwards--I'd have them Holtz, Raymond, Gunler and after that I'd have Torgersson and Heineman--big, competitive wingers who skate well. I really don't care about Nybeck.

They're the only publication to have him that high. McKenzie's poll has him at #4. Hockeyprospect.com's black book has him at #8 amongst Euros. I don't know where Redline report has him, but I can't imagine its any higher than 4.

If we're picking 10th or 11th, I don't see how hes the BPA unless we're at 11th and EVERYONE goes before we pick + Askarov still on the board.

If it plays out that way, fine, take Lundell.

Like has been pointed out, Talbot only had 1 year left before UFA and he was 4 or 5 years older than Geo at the time, while Geo has 3 years left before UFA, which is quite a big difference. Wouldn't be surprised if Geo brought back a better return at all.

Exactly. JG will (try to) trade him as a cost-controlled starter. Maybe not everyone agrees but it really just takes a couple to have a little bidding war.
Yes but it’s very difficult to get a first rounder straight up for a goalie. I remember when everyone was saying that we were gonna get a first rounder for Talbot and we ended up with a late 2nd and late 3rd basically

@bobbop curious which other parts of my post you don't like. Not because of ego just this is some good lively convo for this board on a Saturday when quite few of use may still not have power.

-I can't think of other forward prospects this org has outside of Barron and VK
-How many more D does this org need?
-And I always use "the Paul O'Neil retort" when he told the fan "well how would you have handled that pitcher?" Who would you like to draft and why?

Sidenote: I ripped Kreider during the Canes series and kept saying how signing him was mistake. I think my best friend had enough and finally said "well what would you do with that money then?" and I told him lock ADA up, resign, Fast, resign Strome to a one year deal and he didn't agree but said it was fair.
While I clearly favor taking a forward anytime you are near the top of the draft, I would never close the door on taking a defenseman high in the draft. You just can’t be that black and white. I’ve been checking around on Sanderson and hearing a lot of great things. If the Rangers were ever able to get #3 & 5 from Ottawa, I’m pretty sure #5 would be a defenseman and I’d be fine with that. I like our LHD prospects. I do know however not all of them will make it.

And as for Kreider, I was on the other side of the fence for some of the reasons you suggested. Our forward ranks are thin. Subtract Kreider and they would be even thinner. I think they will find the money to sign Fast...perhaps by buying out Lundqvist or Staal.
