Dammit he was in the lead for the green jacket

I am by no means a Dach fan. He’s awful and I doubt he becomes a bottom 6 player.Top tier delusion
Preserves a culture of performance and professionalism in the locker room? So the guy doesn't show up out of shape next year and the club can finally have a satisfying camp with less laziness.I don't see the purpose of buy8ng him out honestly but tough luck for the guy. Let's count him out and wish for him to comeback as a winger but odds aren't on his side...
2nd knee surgery?Dach could get hurt walking to the rink off the bus.Too bad really.
Gotta respect the gamble but kinda sucks that ours rarely pan out.Dach looked like a good addition/gamble, but yeah, both of the Habs gambled suck in Newhook and Dach and that's what happens when you try to half-ass accelerate it.
Without Laine’s shooting. He will have Laine speed. Laine has has 3 surgeries on one of his knees.
Maybe a contender will trade for Laine next week. Get that big shot.Newhook is playing well. He’ll be fine as a 3rd line center or wing.
Without Laine’s shooting.
What ever happen Kirby don't give up, I'm still certain he can contribute on our top 6/9, on the dot or on the wing it doesn't matter
The guys have elite skill, he may never be the next Getzlaf, but again, too much talent to not have a place in a top 9
Would I give the #13 for a 6f4 220+ physical, elite playmaking making 45-50 points on our 3rd line and second pp, hell yeah I would
Don't know about literally anybody else when Newhook has also been a waste of time and resources, given how we played him at center a good bit last year. That should be the end of projects that have played several NHL seasons without playing well.Feel bad for the guy but what a gigantic waste of time and resources
Literally anybody would have been a more worthwhile experiment at 2C than a perpetually injured and unproductive winger

Except that they wouldn't have gotten a 2c calibre player at all if he wasn't a risk of some sort. You never know with players though. I have 30 players in my keeper league and I never take guys who have already had multiple injuries before they are 18 (like Turcotte) and I still always have at least 6-8 guys on IR. Zegras was never hurt until he got to the NHL. And some guys who have a whole lot of injuries early then go years without missing a game.Feel bad for the guy but what a gigantic waste of time and resources

Why buy him out?Buy out is 1/3 of salary at his age, right ?
However, I'd assume it can't be done if he's still injured on July 1st.
Newhook will not be in the top six. I’d say that’s pretty certain. He’d be a good 3rd liner though. At one point tough decisions are gonna have to be made with players like dach newhook struble xhekaj and others.
They are just not adding anything of value to this team and should not play in the top 6 (the fowards) if we plan to compete for a cup.
And I bet we can find a better player to develop as a winger for the price of an ELC.Why buy him out?
Even if he's not a 2c, he can still develop into a good winger. And, his cap hit is only 3.5M.
I think they’ll just put him on the third next year and see how he does. At this point though, his career may be near its end. A 2nd surgery on a knee he was still recovering from? And he’s missed so much time already…: I think he’d be happy to just have an NHL career at this point. And I bet we can find a better player to develop as a winger for the price of an ELC.
Dach is falling into irrelevance. Buying him out would be doing him a favor, so he can re-negotiate with another club. If he doesn't want it, fine, but he'll hit waiver-wire faster than he can spell it out as soon as a rookie simply looks to be better.
