We should look at our 2021 draft picks

Those are the picks we are going to have to trade to entice someone to take the final years of the contracts.

Benning could sign a turd right off the street and window lickers like you would say it was great.
Haha you know me so well!!

It’s like, I already thought you were dumb and then you just further confirmed it!! Thank you.

Term is too long but these are not bad players.

I think the only window licker here is you my friend!! Lick away!!

Really happy to have a guy like Roussel on our team. We are going to have some push back finally and is a great teammate to boot.

The term is insanely long for older role players. Neither of these guys should have got more than 2 years.

The upcoming signing are the equivalent to being an aging fat father of 3 and realizing you need a safe reliable mini-van......except the Canucks already own two and we just went out and bought two more

updates

“we worked very hard to tie up $17.425 million in eriksson, gagner, gudbranson, and sutter until 2020. but with only $14.275 million committed until 2021, and only eriksson still on the books for $6 million in 2022, we had to do something to keep our numbers up.”

“$24.175 million in eriksson, gagner, gudbranson, sutter, snoopy, and weasel until 2020. $20.525 million committed until 2021, and $10.250 million in 2022. nice job everyone, promotions all around.”

“it’s not often you get the chance to recreate the 2011 dallas stars. you can’t let opportunities like that pass you by. we’re pleased to announce that we’ve also acquired stephane robidas and apparently an entire island for a second and fourth round pick. we’re also bringing willie back.”

“well we missed out on neal, which is frankly a firable offense (so, um, judd is fired), but we believe that roussel is proven to bring out the best in eriksson, and we will call up bachman, re-sign larsen, and of course there is no september if robidas and willie aren’t here.”

the money is frustrating, but I agree that the term is the real kick in the ass, especially for Beagle. benning is just so utterly predictable when he sets his sights on a player.

Today is a good reminder that just because you have cap space, doesn't mean you have to spend it.
Today is a good reminder that if you have cap Space you can use it to get picks if you know what you are doing and not forth liners

Players tend to have a pretty significant drop off at 33. Jay Beagle isn’t very good to begin with. 4 years?! I don’t think he finishes year one at an NHL caliber of play let alone year four.

This one is a real head scratcher.

I think the big difference with this years two signings (so far), is the expectations - not top six forwards. They aren't expected to be the powerplay specialist (e.g. mdz) or some top six forward (e.g. Loui).

Canucks need some toughness and pushback in the lineup. otherwise, the kids get run.... Unfortunately, other teams forced the Canucks to give more term and $$$$. this also will give some prospects time to develop properly instead of being rushed into the lineup.

Gonna see a lot of comments about how you need to insulate the youth unless you turn out like the Oilers. Completely ignoring the fact that the Oilers signed crappy veterans like Eric Belanger and Andrew Ference, and that the Canucks barely have any youth on the current roster worth insulating because a lot of it is filled with garbage fringe players. Whether you like it or not, the Canucks right now are the Lowe/Tambellini/Mactavish Oilers, have been for a while.

Pretty sure his cap doesn’t count even if he retires early? since he didn’t sign the deal after his 35th birthday

What happened to Linden saying they were looking at short term deal before the draft LMAO. Yet another lie we have been fed. 4 years for Rousell was bad, but 4 years for Beagle as well!? My god, JB just continues to amaze.

"im happy the canucks signed some aging garbage so all the good young players the canucks have will be sent to Utica even when they are clearly worthy of being in vancouver"
