Losing Malkin should make Crosby kick it into high gear like usual. Giving Kessel his own line behind Crosby's should soften the blow of losing Malkin, he could very well go on a streak and get them 5-10 points they didn't deserve like he did at the start of a few of our seasons.

I strongly disagree. Protecting our #1 seed in the draft lottery is soooo much more important than whether we get the Pens mid-1st this year vs next vs two high 2nds. Calgary and Winnipeg are uncomfortably close. 52.3% of winning a franchise player vs 39%. 20% of winning Matthews vs just 13.5%.

And even if we don't win any of the lotteries, #4 pick versus #5 pick could be huge.
