Thank you Penguins
We can do them a big solid by beating Detroit tonight.
OK, I couldn't even convince myself that's going to happen.

Pittsburgh will have to take care of themselves. Our 1st pick, the best odds for us, is greater than Pittsburgh. Win the lottery and I don't care if we get the Pens 1st or 2nd round pick.
The 3 greatest things for us:
1. Best odds for the Leafs in the lottery.
2. Falling no lower than 4th.
3. 1st pick in rounds 2-7.

I agree. I'd love the Pit pick but our own lottery selection obviously takes priority. Both would be ideal....
Honestly I think 30th is a foregone conclusion at this point. Can you see this roster going on an extended winning streak? Especially with the sketch goaltending we've been getting.

Pens win. We can lose tonight and still feel guilt free.
While I also hope the Penguins secure at least a Wild Card playoff spot since that will make their 1st round pick end up in a better spot should they lose in the 1st or 2nd round of playoffs, their win also keeps them 2 points behind the Islanders for 3rd place in the Metropolitan Division.
I'd rather win, but if we lost, at least there is some value there in securing the Penguins pick!

What I mean is if they happen to flip flop in the standings with the Islanders, it should mean them making the playoffs is a secure thing.Lets not get greedy, it would be awesome for them just to make it. Position doesn't matter at all imo.
Not sure this makes sense....If we win we help the Penguins as Detroit is chasing them for the last spot, and thus helping the cause of securing the pic.
it's the Flyers that are chasing them for the last spot. It's the Flyers that have to lose their games. Flyers face Detroit and Pittsburgh a couple more times to end out the season.
I still wonder if it would have been a guaranteed 1st round pick if Lou Lamoriello was their GM at the time? One thing that has bugged me is that Phil Kessel is traded for a conditional 1st round pick, despite his contract and one bad 82 regular season games in Toronto, where as Boston got a guaranteed 1st round pick from San Jose for Martin Jones and Jones never played a game for the Bruins.Wow management looks pretty smart for nabbing Pitts first. They aren't a shoe in for the playoffs, but a wildcard seed looks like it is the most likely scenario. I thought Pittsburgh would be a top three team in the Metro at the start of the season.

Never under-estimate the Oilers tankHonestly I think 30th is a foregone conclusion at this point. Can you see this roster going on an extended winning streak? Especially with the sketch goaltending we've been getting.
