Thank you Penguins

We can do them a big solid by beating Detroit tonight.

OK, I couldn't even convince myself that's going to happen.

Pittsburgh will have to take care of themselves. Our 1st pick, the best odds for us, is greater than Pittsburgh. Win the lottery and I don't care if we get the Pens 1st or 2nd round pick.
The 3 greatest things for us:
1. Best odds for the Leafs in the lottery.
2. Falling no lower than 4th.
3. 1st pick in rounds 2-7.

Honestly I think 30th is a foregone conclusion at this point. Can you see this roster going on an extended winning streak? Especially with the sketch goaltending we've been getting.

I agree. I'd love the Pit pick but our own lottery selection obviously takes priority. Both would be ideal....

While I also hope the Penguins secure at least a Wild Card playoff spot since that will make their 1st round pick end up in a better spot should they lose in the 1st or 2nd round of playoffs, their win also keeps them 2 points behind the Islanders for 3rd place in the Metropolitan Division.

I've been a Leaf fan long enough to know anything is possible. Perhaps highly unlikely, but possible.

Yep, the Pens pick is nice, but helping out a mid-late teen pick risking our own isn't worth it.

Edmonton 71GP 61pts
Toronto 67GP 55pts

Priority has to be given to losing the games in hand before we can worry about helping the Pens out.

Pens win. We can lose tonight and still feel guilt free.

Nah we still need to win tonight imo, we can spare some points.

Lets not get greedy, it would be awesome for them just to make it. Position doesn't matter at all imo.

If the Leafs get 4-8 points in those games in hand we have over Edmonton things get way too close for comfort. 30th isn't guaranteed when Edmonton is the team in 29th.

 Babs might have like a big bill and going "Now look. We were swept against Montreal, and that's okay because we worked real hard and we were good. And we were swept against Ottawa and except for the last game, I think we played real well. But I said to myself, what would Mike Babcock want for this game. And I said, self, Mike babcock would really want a profressional grinding win against his old team. So, let's start on time, be good people and get the w. Go Leafs go."

Edmonton, Winnipeg and Calgary are equally as pathetic these days. I wouldn't be surprised to see any of them lose more than we do. I don't see how 30th place is anywhere near a foregone conclusion.

Not sure this makes sense....If we win we help the Penguins as Detroit is chasing them for the last spot, and thus helping the cause of securing the pic.

it's the Flyers that are chasing them for the last spot. It's the Flyers that have to lose their games. Flyers face Detroit and Pittsburgh a couple more times to end out the season.

Wow management looks pretty smart for nabbing Pitts first. They aren't a shoe in for the playoffs, but a wildcard seed looks like it is the most likely scenario. I thought Pittsburgh would be a top three team in the Metro at the start of the season.

My point was losing to Detroit doesn't help in securing the Pit pic. The post I alluded to seemed to have the situation reversed.

Philly needs 5 point to Knock Pitt out

Pitt holds the ROW tie breaker.

Det in reg tonight is my goal

I still wonder if it would have been a guaranteed 1st round pick if Lou Lamoriello was their GM at the time? One thing that has bugged me is that Phil Kessel is traded for a conditional 1st round pick, despite his contract and one bad 82 regular season games in Toronto, where as Boston got a guaranteed 1st round pick from San Jose for Martin Jones and Jones never played a game for the Bruins.

it was the Penguins or he would of stayed with us. Your choice.
