If Montreal won the draft, I would probably be completely done with hockey. As they've messed up the play of the game, had their lock-outs, Kerry Fraser, etc., I'm way more of a fringe fan then ever.

Oh, I feel you. Edmonton or Montreal winning the lottery will be the hardest thing to swallow in my almost three decades of following hockey as a Leafs fan.

At least we had an entire year to digest the Kessel trade fiasco..

If we beat Detroit, we are only 4-5 points behind with 14 games remaining. Eff that. That's not a buffer anymore. Our 1st pick is first priority. We have the rest of the season to cheer against Pittsburgh's rivals.
 
Oilers are actually outshooting the Yotes, too bad its not reflecting in the score.

At least its less of a story for Matthews to Arizona, and another longshot team passing us in the absolute worst case scenario.
 
IMO It's more likely we drop in the lottery than actually pick at 1st overall. We only have a 1 in 5 chance. We'll likely end up with Laine or Puljujarvi.

You should probably watch him play then...

If you've seen any of his Swiss games, he looks like a seasoned vet. There isn't much doubt in my mind that he'll end up as a 1C. In some ways he reminds of Sundin with a mix of Modano as well.

Either way, he won't be a bust in the traditional sense.

So who's the favorite to draft Mathews if not the 30th place team?
 
Idk why but my gut feeling is telling me we'll be drafting Laine at #2.

I honestly don't see Mathews suiting up for us. I hope I'm wrong.
