So, what goalie are they taking in the second round?

Carter Hart would be a great selection, though I doubt he'll be around when the Kings make their first selection and they'd likely have to move up or acquire an additional pick in order to draft him.

Jack Flinn (currently serving as Budaj's backup) and Nick McBride were both invited to rookie camp last year, so I could see them possibly signing both prospects after the draft.

McBride is eligible for this year's draft but I'm not sure if he'll end up being selected.

Another name to keep an eye on is Matthew Ladd who attended the same prep school as Jonathan Quick at Avon Old Farms.

Stuff like that always makes me realize just how deep every draft is.

Most of the REALLY top end talent is top-5, seems like 10 or so through like 50 are almost indistinguishable (I know there's a percentage chance of each pick 'making' the NHL but once they've made it I mean).

You really do need a whole heap of luck to land a Jamie Benn late. Hell, you even need help to have a Larkin fall into your lap. We've been pretty fortunate to pick pretty well outside the top 5.

agreed.
The reason I think Bleakley will go at least 3rd round is Arizona appears to be set on receiving a compensatory 2nd for not signing him. So his value must be below a 2nd rounder. That said if he has a good memorial cup maybe Arizona does ink him.
I wanted LA to draft him in 2014.

Saw a few mocks that had Cam Dineen falling to us :yo:

could also see Mitch Mattson, big C going to UND in the fall.

Just totally guessing at this point though, because I think we're going to see some d prospects and roster players move to add picks and move around.

With the Kings looking to reevaluate their draft and development process, I wonder if Debrincat is on their radar, too

Do you think Dwight King can fetch a late 2nd and a 4th?

perhaps..I still think getting a late 2nd is a stretch. There was a Dwight King Value thread on the trade boards, and that does not seem out of line. I think a habs fan offered Minnesota's 2nd

I think some flyer fan also offered Chicago's 2nd + on that thread as well.

So you are likely right

Trade King for a 2nd and then trade that 2nd for Bozak. Throw in Clifford and/or Forbort to get them to retain 40% (cap hit would then be $2.5 million). There's your cheap 3rd line center for the next 3 years.

I think a 2nd for DK is more than fair. It's when you add assets that it becomes imbalanced.

I disagree with your value of Dk i think he holds more value then just a 2nd. He is in his prime only 26, cheap contract playing top 16 mins Despite my dislike of him playing top 6 mins he is still playing them. This holds value people. Hell linden Vey got us a 2nd. King has to hold more value then that.

omg im so excited over the 202nd pick! i wonder if Toothless Joe or Hobo Johnson will be available by then

Futa/Yannetti seem to be more willing to take previously undrafted guys than other organizations. Didn't get a chance to watch Red Deer during the Memorial Cup, but there's a projected late round D named Colton Bobyk that had a decent breakout season. Seemed like he switched from forward to D relatively late and things started to click when he got traded to his hometown club. Decent size with a reputedly good shot.
