Just Hoven's tidbit about Blake taking over.

Normally wouldn't put much stock in to it but Lombardi has been a train wreck since 2014. AEG can't be happy about the highest payroll in the league potentially missing the playoffs.

They will see that season ticket base dissipate as well. Received a notification that they dropped prices for tonight's game...still cost $72 after fees to sit in Row 2 of Section 306.

I sold five of mine in Row 4 of the same section on StubHub for $16.50 a piece. After Saturday's game, the next three games feature entry prices of $14/$12/$13 as of this morning. Last season, which was a step down from the year prior, I didn't sell a ticket for less than $45 before fees at this point of the season regardless how garbage the visiting team was.

This is still a business. Business is going to start to suffer with continued BS like the last three seasons. Would not be surprised if Lombardi is done.

11-12 years is a pretty long time. I also believe that Sutter will have coached more games for the Kings--when playoff games are included--than he has for any of his previous stops once this season is concluded.

He has an expiration date as well.

Yeah, I felt like this was the make or break season for Lombardi and Sutter. I didn't even know Lombardi's contract was up but I said before the season that if the Kings missed the playoffs or lost in round 1 again, Lombardi would be promoted out of the GM job and Sutter would be let go.

Sorry to hear that about your tickets, brother. That's a huge bummer, for sure.

No big deal...just have to make a decision on what to do for next season by the 27th. I've always had at least two seats for 15 years and didn't start picking up extras to sell until 2015. Looks like it will wind up costing me what it would for the two die-hard tickets while having two additional regular prices tickets so everything is fine.

It's cool having additional tickets for those times that it turns into a fun group event but it's not worth it if I'm going to eat a loss for most every game next season.

Point of the post was more stating what the market thinks of this team, which is not much. Kings probably haven't had to lower ticket prices the day of a game since winning in 2012. Just a reminder that this is a business, the Kings have the highest payroll and are having to lower ticket prices the day of a game. AEG can't be thrilled.

where did you read/hear/learn that the Kings have the highest payroll? Ive seen two different people post that but I cant find anything to back it up

Winning two Cups has to buy Lombardi more than 3 years of leeway. It's not like the team isn't competitive at all. It can still beat anyone on any night, although it certainly isn't an elite team. If there's any truth to this rumor, perhaps Dean is kicking himself upstairs.

No, I haven't heard.

I like McNabb's physicality, but it's good to see what Gravel, LaDue and Forbort can do on the ice.

Iginla joins the team and Gaborik and Kopitar start finding their scoring touches. What's happening.

Reactions: King Trouty
well i think enough time has gone i can now say that king on the roster was holding the kings back Iginla has shown what having a properly skilled player in the top 6 and on the pp can do. Also kempe is showing he is ready to be in the nhl despite what others were trying to say all season. HOWEVER i am ok with the fact he spent till feb in the ahl getting that last bit of experience he needed. What i am not okay with is a player like mersch wasting away ( yes i know he was imjured most of the season but i think he should have made the team over setogushi in training camp)

Oh yeah forgot where are all the clifford haters. You know who you are The ones that swore he would be traded long before King. Clifford is still here people get used to it .

I dont think anyone thought Clifford would be traded long before King, but Clifford is still completely redundant on this roster, especially when he's paid like a guy who should be producing more. Look at the comparable contracts to his. They're either scoring more and paid slightly more, or make way less and produce about the same amount.

I know Iggy and Vinny were near the end of their careers but I have actually enjoyed seeing them as Kings these last two years....garbage bin or not.

Pretty illustrious careers.

Yes, I agree, somewhat. I dont mind either trade. I just think both trades were small time moves, and not what this team needs to actually compete. But I get the reasoning behind it, especially more so after DL swung for Sekera and Lucic and struck out so hard. Nice to know that vets like Iggy and Vinny are willing to come to LA. Hope the trend continues, just with players not so out of their prime.

100% agree on Kempe. 100% agree on Mersch. He either needs to make it with the Kings at this point, or be traded in some package.

I also dont get why neither Amadio or Brodzinski are being given a call up opportunity

Not sure if I've seen the latest lineup on paper:

Crazy to think we're still without shore and Nolan. Would love Nolan in for Andreoff if he could play at the level he was before. Shore was looking beastly too. This is a good problem.

Can we talk about Paul LaDue for a bit? This kid has looked good on every game I've watched. He matched up against Ovechkin last night like it was no big deal. Really glad he's getting his chances.

I disagree because yes there was at least 3 or 4 long time posters in here that said it to me. I would call them out but some are no longer posting here and one is not posting as much these days so Ill let it be. I disagree on clifford being redundant on this roster. I will say for the time he actually plays (less then 10 mins most nights) he has more hits then most of the roster. The kings play a physical brand of hockey and Clifford screams this to me. His job is not to score goals its to play physical and wear down opponents. If he was getting the same mins as King was i would agree but he doesn't Clifford is getting the least amount of mins out of most of the regulars. He is not the issue with the lack of goal scoreing on the kings. Go look at kopitar gaborik toffoli muzzin doughty for this Clifford is a 4th line player that gets paid to play physical not score goals.

I don't recall Dwight King having much of a fanbase. It was more of an issue of Sutter's usage of him most took issue with. He was great as a 3rd line LW with Stoll and Lewis, and he used to play the body more often but that's gotten away from him and he became completely invisible as a checking line winger who would be used in a top six role more often than we like.

I agree with Reaper, Clifford is redundant when guys like Andreoff and Nolan are still here. Given their contracts, Nolan is the better value and better player, but unfortunately he has been plagued by injuries the past couple of seasons.

I think Clifford had some potential to be a better player early in his career, but a series of concussions likely hampered his development. He works hard but I'd like to see him be better defensively, kind of like a Kelly Buchberger who was an excellent shot blocker and penalty killer.

You sir have a short memory for things in here particularly when it comes to king apparently However not that big of a deal it is what it is. I was right in the end of it all king would be leaving first. Clifford is here to play physical not to score.

Maybe you read too much into things. Where was this Dwight King fanbase I never noticed? I don't recall many being fond of him in a top six role. There were more who were displeased by his overuse.

Yeah that's quite the exaggeration. For the most part King was forgotten about because he was barely ever noticeable on the ice. Don't know what happened to him but he used to be a useful player in his first four seasons here. Guess he thought he became a finesse forward and didn't have to check as much :sarcasm:
