Maybe you read too much into things. Where was this Dwight King fanbase I never noticed? I don't recall many being fond of him in a top six role. There were more who were displeased by his overuse.

Possible but i recall something different There was only maybe 2 or 3 of us disliking king I am talking going back to kings 2nd or 3rd season I disliked him I was ahead of the curve i guess There were plenty of king posters defending him and putting hate on clifford when king was playing 14 mins a game compared to 9 of clifford placing unrealistic expectations on a player. Hell read reapers comment he doesn't produce for what hes paid duh hes not paid to produce hes paid to play physical and he does it well. Go back to kings first couple years and read there is alot more defending him then hating on him.

I don't recall Dwight King having much of a fanbase. It was more of an issue of Sutter's usage of him most took issue with. He was great as a 3rd line LW with Stoll and Lewis, and he used to play the body more often but that's gotten away from him and he became completely invisible as a checking line winger who would be used in a top six role more often than we like.

I agree with Reaper, Clifford is redundant when guys like Andreoff and Nolan are still here. Given their contracts, Nolan is the better value and better player, but unfortunately he has been plagued by injuries the past couple of seasons.

I think Clifford had some potential to be a better player early in his career, but a series of concussions likely hampered his development. He works hard but I'd like to see him be better defensively, kind of like a Kelly Buchberger who was an excellent shot blocker and penalty killer.

Yeah. I think at best people, like myself, thought he was an underappreciated bottom 6 forward.

One of Clifford, Nolan, or Andreoff should be gone after this year. I agree that concussions really impacted Clifford's development curve.

Some of us defended King because some suggested he was utterly worthless. But I'd hardly call that a fan club.

no you defended him . Saying i was over reacting. He is fine for the mins he gets. There were others in here saying they liked king and hes just a bottom 6er when if u go back and look at the mins he got he played top 6 mins I went thru his mins and proved he played top 6 mins more nights then not and stated he didn't produce in them i was ignored well look who now was right. Call it whatever you want but people were making excuses for his use in the top 6 roll and we had other options that weren't used.

Again if and when he played bottom 6 mins i was more then fine with him However go back and look he played more top 6 mins then bottom 6 Therefore imo that makes him a top 6 forward who plays bottom 6 mins when every thing goes right. Theses are the same years we had lucic and brown and gaborik william and pearson and he we still getting top 6 mins.

As far as clifford goes yes i agree he would have a better career if it wasnt for the concussions However he still is a key part of this team that probably won't be realized till hes gone.

Not sure if I've seen the latest lineup on paper:
_____________________________________________

Marian Gaborik -- Anze Kopitar -- Jarome Iginla

Tanner Pearson -- Jeff Carter -- Tyler Toffoli

Trevor Lewis -- Adrian Kempe -- Dustin Brown

Andy Andreoff -- Nic Dowd -- Kyle Clifford

Jordan Nolan -- Nick Shore

____________________________________________

Derek Forbort -- Drew Doughty

Jake Muzzin -- Paul LaDue

Kevin Gravel -- Alec Martinez

Brayden McNabb
____________________________________________

Jonathan Quick

Ben Bishop

Swapping Nolan and Shore for Andreoff and Dowd will be a good upgrade.

I have my doubts about Nic Dowd. Not sure if he's an NHL player.

Dowd has the talent to be an NHL player, he just needs to work on his play away from the puck, in his own end, covering up defensively. That's been his biggest weakness to me, as his line tends to get caught in their own end of the ice often. But he's a creative playmaker who can still improve. I hope he can turn into another Eric Belanger like center at some point. The Kings need a #3 C like him, or what Stoll used to be.

Dean Lombardi on possible recalls to #LAKings: "We're still looking" ... "I could see us doing a few more here right now"

Big game for King today, 10:55 of ice time, 1 shot on goal. This may be the biggest addition by subtraction since Jack Johnson.

It's his play with the puck which caught my eye. He seems unable to win one on one battles almost every time I've tried to focus on him.

And with Clifford making almost 2 million, it makes sense to move him and keep AA and Nolan who are under a million.

yeah there totally wasn't posters trying to call me out about clifford over king :help::sarcasm: i think you need to go back a few years into my posting and go read the hate he got and the love king got from certian old timers in here

A prefabricated argument largely propelled by you, and only you, concerning the merits of King vs Clifford, has zero winners. Neither have had a solid place on the squad for quite some time. It's like squirrels fighting over what cigarette butts they get to try and eat.

Nolan has one more year after this at $950,000. Which means he can be buried if necessary.

I think Clifford will go first. $1,600,000 is easier to trade although he has 3 more years. AA is a RFA.

Dean Lombardi on possible recalls to #LAKings: "We're still looking" ... "I could see us doing a few more here right now"

Jonny B with 2 goals and an assist and Mersch with a goal and an assist with Lombardi in the house today...

His play with the puck has caught my eye, too, but in a different way.

He seems fluid and aggressive, as well as sure of himself. I think he's already better than Shore offensively. And I like Shore, mostly.

He (Dowd) has instinct and is above-average with his stick and on his skates in the forecheck.

It's interesting how much we, as fans, view each of our guys. No dig at you, Jeep, just a general observation.

It's hard to choose a new champion of Bark Madness, but you can do it. Photos of dogs and their players are included at the link.

And after Kempe's first NHL goal last night,

Hard to decide which one has been the bigger dog this season.
