Weaver would be an excellent pick up. He will price himself out of the Rangers range because he had an excellent playoff for the Habs (2nd most important dman for them behind Subban IMO). Any talk of him re-upping with MTL?

Oh god no. What a nuisance to play against in the ECF.

I didn't mind him until he started pulling some seriously stupid **** late in the season & during the playoffs.

Stupid penalties. Provides bulletin board material to incentivize other teams to play with a chip on their shoulder against us - see: Dorsett icing Montreal kid in pregame warm ups (Rangers lose 7-4). He's fast alright, and that may be his only redeemable quality. Terrible stick handling. Out of position often. I think he misses the net more often than Del Zotto does on shots, and that's damn near impossible. Can't stay on his feet.

He brings far more negative to the table than positive.

The only (somewhat sarcastic) reason I'd ever consider Carter over him is so that he doesn't destroy the face of another one of our players. He broke Dubi's nose and bloodied up Bickels. Not a good reason, and not likely that we do this, but Dorsett criticism is beyond fair IMO.

This is still the dumbest thing I've ever heard or seen. He was trying to ice the Habs players coming on to the ice, not the kid. No one in their right mind would do that to a kid. There's no way DD did.

This is the guy who broke his leg on the PK for the Rangers and finished the shift. Which everyone loved. Then he came back from injury, played the same game minus the PKing because Nash took over, and everyone hated him and fell in love with Carcillo, who did 1000 times the stupid **** Dorsett does, and no one cares.

And FWIW, 62% of DD's shots hit the net. Del Zotto? 45.2%

People throw **** at the wall to see what sticks and then ***** and moan when Sather doesn't make those moves (which is because they are flat out un****ing realistic).

"I think we should sign Winnik for 2 million". Great. Makes perfect sense. Except the part where another team offers him 3 million. Then commences the annual Sather ***** fest about how he has no vision for this team and he can't make the smart moves other GM's make, etc.

I could see the Winnik stuff. But cannot see Carcillo getting a penny over 1 mill.

Winnik could also have fallen on a trap of being a HF product of hype. Fans fall in love w/ players and overvalue them.

A big reason why Boyle is getting such a big pay day is because he had a lot of exposure in the playoffs. He was a story line. He played out of his mind. Many teams saw that. Many teams could sell him as an improvement to their fans.

Winnik? He plays in the Western Conference - 1. Meaning a lot of Eastern Conference fans wouldn't have been able to see the Ducks play consistently enough to know what he provides. Two, his team was out in the 2nd round, meaning that there wasn't that much public exposure and opportunity for him to increase his value. It's pretty bad that the Ducks set out a report that they deliberately would not try to resign him in favor of younger more inexperienced players. It gives the impression that he's older and less energetic.

Prust got such a big contract because he had gotten a lot of exposure going to the ECF the season before he got the contract. It's part of the contract negotiations. Winnik isn't going to get that same benefit.

The statistic is surprising.

And I don't see a point in the argument of why it would have been better to ice the players over the kid. Doing either is stupid and would incense the team regardless... whether it be a player or the kid.

Why not? He makes that currently. He is a winger, not a center. WHat do you think he will get, facepalm and all?

At least 2.5 million. As Raspwetin pointed out, he will be highly coveted. Winnik, like Boyle, will be looking to cash in on desperate GM's who are willing to pay them to be 3rd line centers.

Id go as far as to make an avatar bet with you that he won't sign for a penny less then 2.5 million and in reality I really think he signs for closer to 3 million.

If we got Winnik it would be to replace Boyle on the 4th line LW and PK squad, don't see much point in replacing Dorsett with him. If we were to get another RW for that line it'd be to save some cap space. I'd be okay with giving that ice time to Fast. But Dorsett is pretty good at being annoying and sometimes it's quite entertaining.

That's some excellent work there, detective. Google "Kesler, Rangers" and it must be true.

Also, the most recent stuff is more accurate?

So Boomer reporting that MSL to Rangers had legs during the Olympics and Dreger (ironically a guy you just referenced) giving daily updates all the way leading up to the deadline that there were no legs surely meant that he was the more accurate of the two?

Also Dreger is constantly wrong. He was reporting that Ulf was the favorite for Carolina for days. He constantly spouts **** about how the Maple Leafs are getting huge hauls for their dump players. I'd reckon that over the last year, he has been more wrong than right.

And the "others" that you're talking about, I'd almost bet that they quoted and referenced the NYPost report about the subject and didn't have any first hand knowledge on the situation.

It's a common part of journalism - write something & publish it... let it fester for a few days... refute it several days later... let it fester... come back to it at a later time. It's not correct, but it's common practice.

But whatever you say bossman. Keep on doing you.

Brooks, Dreger, Custance, Strang - that's what you get when you google it. All saying that he isn't coming to play for AV. All I've done is provide proof from credible sources. All you've done is none of that.

And BTW, Santa Claus doesn't exist either.

The Del Zotto comparison was someone sarcastic somewhat truthful. I''m shocked that he hits the net 62% of the time, though.

I swear, the guy misses the net every time I see him take a shot.

That's his regular season number. It was quite lower in the playoffs, which I'm sure is where most of your memory is coming from, but still higher than Del Zotto's :)

Lol, I don't mean to be. I just thought it was strange to compare a 4th line winger to a 3rd pair offensive dman who's no longer on our team, especially one like DZ who has a penchant for missing the net.

lolwut?

Dorsett is fast as **** and CarteDorsetinch taller than him. Literally the only games Carter can score in are against the Rangers.

The hate for Dorsett is absolutely hilarious and mind boggling.

Im not impressed with Dorsett. You are. Great.

Hes fast and dumb, can't fight. Doesn't intimidate...

Im not as hung up on Carter as much as I want something better than Dorsett

One more thing about Stralman.. The Rangers if they sign him will have over 20M tied up in a defense that quite frankly outside of Ryan Mcdonagh is inept at putting up points. Klein/Stralman/Diaz/Girardi/Staal/Moore together had 63 points. I can see why the Rangers have interest in Boyle
