Our traditionally awful PK (or at least it seems like it) is now up to 4th in the league. Any reason why it's been so much better this year?

Thursday Feb 12 Playoff situation. All teams ranked by W (minus) L. This accounts for games in hand.

5th - Vancouver +10
6th - Calgary +8
7th - Winnipeg +9
8th - San Jose +8

9th - Wild +7
10th - LA +6

Which means that if Arizona beats SJ in regulation tomorrow night, the Wild play for 8th position on Saturday against Carolina.

Keep it up. The big comeback continues on its march....

This year has been interesting and a good test for Minnesota. You have to wonder though, how long their window really is open and if the next group of players is reading to start taking over? Coyle and Granlund have not only been frustrating but disappointing and they were supposed to be the nucleus that takes over as the veterans start to fade away. Nino is a good top 6 winger but luck hasn't been on his side. Zucker has struggled with injuries. Koivu's PPG is significant down from .83 to .61 and is this an indication of potential issues in the future? Is Minnesota going to be mired in mediocrity for a few more years before they start rebuilding? It's going to be another interesting off-season.

If Granlund, Coyle, etc... are still the same at 25 as they are at 22, then yeah, we may have some issues. But I don't think that'll be the case.

[MOD] We've erased an almost improbable deficit in an improbable amount of time. You wanna look at numbers? Here's one for ya to look up. Over the last five years how many presidents cup winners also won the cup? Maybe 1??? It's the nhl, get in and get it done. Nows not the time to panic over the upcoming off season

Exactly this. It's not the NBA where no team as the 5th seed or lower has won a title. It's what makes the NHL playoffs the best playoffs of the four major sports. It's incredibly unpredictable. Get in and anything can happen.

I don't expect Fletcher to make any moves, and I think standing pat would be the best move anyway. No reason to ship out any more futures right now and though we might slip into the playoffs, I don't think any of us are expecting us to go to the cup finals this year. Another round one win would probably be satisfactory for me, especially given all the ups and downs of this season so far.

Icing the best possible team that they currently can, while still keeping an eye on the future, as they should be.

this is what Fletcher's been doing the whole time.

people don't realize that it's not as simple as rebuild for a couple years, ice a better team, profit. in the meantime your ticket revenue goes down, but maybe just as importantly or probably more importantly (because it'll take longer to recover) sponsor revenue and corporate partnerships will plummet. beat them in the head with that over and over and it still doesn't sink in.

Rebuilding Minnesota Wild at this day and age?

Sweet Yesus o' mine.

The only thing wrong with Minnesota Wild earlier this season were their extremely poor goaltending. And nothin' else.

And, ah, don't worry Minnesota: Clint Eastwood ... eh, Mikko Koivu will fix it all in the end!

I'm fully expecting 2-1 boring games going forward though. Especially against the West. They need the points over the goal differential.
