Jake Marchment has started to get it going in the playoffs for the Otters. Will be interested to see if he graduates to the pros next season or comes back for an OA season.

Kurtis MacDermid has been excellent this season, great body checker, skating and puck skills have vastly improved, bomb of a shot from the point. Should be in the AHL next season.

8 games is just a HUGE amount of time for what happened. Yes he did make contract with the players head first with his shoulder and a suspension is fine but 8 games is just a ton for that hit. I mean CM didn't leave his feet or take aim or anything like that so while what he did was absolutely wrong and worthy of a 3 game suspension it shouldn't warrant 8 games.

That was a nasty hit on Domi. Late and headshot. I can see in a junior league why it's an 8 game suspension. It would be less in the NHL but would be an in-person hearing for sure.

Anyone think Colin Miller has a shot at the lineup next season? Ahead of Forbort?

Not really. Best case scenario for Miller imo would be the #8 D (first call-up) with Forbort starting as the #7. But I'd bet DL will look for another D and have Forbort start in Manchester.

With Regehr retiring, the uncertainty of Sekera signing and Voynov uncertainty,
who knows? Miller has progressed and excelled faster than anyone
expected. It helps his case, that he is right handed. I still think Forbert
is the next one to graduate.

Not like these hits should happen at any level, but these are teenage kids, and most of them will not be pro hockey players. A hit like that could have life long negative effects.

They need to take hits like this out of the game and 1-2 games just isn't enough of a deterrent.

Problem with the hit was that Domi was leaning forward and leading with his head. MacDermid didn't go out of his way or go high on the hit. It's unfortunate how Domi got laid out, but he would be partially to blame if we saw that type of hit in the NHL.

And I'm not saying this because MacDermid is a Kings' prospect.

I think he has a shot; he could be that surprise guy that blows everyone away at camp but I wouldn't bet on it. I think he's one more year out.

This.

From what I understand the Kings are still trying to ease him into the pro game, while cleaning his end up a little bit.

He has a ton of really great skills but still needs to know what he can and can't get away with at the pro level. Another year or half a year is probably in the books for him.

If you do not sign Ladue, he can become a free agent very easily both next summer and the summer after that.

Yep - one more year in the AHL for him. And it will be awesome getting to see him all the time in Ontario :). I think he has more offensive upside than Martinez/Voynov but just needs to clean up some defensive aspects to his game.

Mike Amadio has had an underrated season, totally flying under the radar like Nick Shore did (in Denver).

Yea, and he is doing it basically by himself. North Bay doesn't have too many offensive weapons. Amadio is THE guy on that team. They have good complementary forwards but he has been the rockstar almost all year. Very very impressive season.

I will admit I was not too excited about the King's picking him in the draft. It appears the staff knows what they are doing. :handclap:

What about Nick Paul?
