Can't wait to see MacDermid graduate to the AHL next season.

That McDermid is one I wouldn't want on the opposing team. Keep your head up. Hope that other kid is okay.

If that’s not enough, (Prokhorkin) has been demoted down to CSKA’s VHL affiliate, Buran Voronezh, where he scored just one goal in seven games. His contract ran out on April 30th, but so far there is no information on where he will play next season. CSKA doesn’t seem eager to retain him, so he may try to cross the ocean and fight for a spot in the AHL with the Manchester Monarchs.

Mike Amadio and Matt Mistele are looking like draft steals by the Kings so far.

I'm a big fan of Amadio. I think he could develop into a solid defensive forward in the Kings system. I'm still a bit ambivalent on Mistele, simply because I have seen less of him than some other prospects.

Matt Mistele had 2 goals and an assist tonight, named 3rd star as his Oshawa Generals jumped to a 3-1 series lead against Connor McDavid's Eerie Otters in the OHL Championship.

Would be great to see Mistele competing in the Memorial Cup.

Pretty much rooting for an OHL champion in the Memorial Cup this year. The Kings have no prospects in the WHL or QMJHL competing. In Oshawa, Mistele would be the lone representative. Erie has MacDermid and Marchment.

Hard to choose, really, though I do prefer the complete team component from Oshawa.

So, what is the deal with Mistele? What's his skillset and why did he drop?

He sounds like another Dwight King type (big, grindy, limited agility) but seems to be a stronger producer. He dropped off in his draft year and we got him much later than projections (much, MUCH later if you go by the previous year, sort of like Ebert).

Mind you this was from his breakthrough season with Plymouth, but you'll see how much Mistele loves making his presence felt in front of the opponent's net. Kind of reminds me of Mersch in that sense.

He is tied for 3rd in the league in goals scored in the OHL playoffs, behind Conner McDavid and Nick Ritchie, so not bad, not bad at all.

His production dropped off due to battling injury, and trying to figure out what type of forward he wants to be.

Mistele seems to have figured out some stuff. Also he got back healthy. Good late round gamble by Futa/Lombardi again.

Thanks guys.

Will never complain about a 6th continually finding success. Would be nice to unearth yet another late round gem.

Mistele scored to make it 4-1 Generals, and he did it from his favorite spot, right around the goal mouth.

The video link may be geo blocked for U.S. viewers (including me) however, I used the Hola Better Internet extension on my Chrome browser to bypass it. Stupid Sportsnet.

MacDermid's and Marchment's season come to a close.

MacDermid had a very good year, he will do much better up a level where he's actually allowed to use his body. Very strong player and a great hitter, solid defensively. His skating and puck skills improved greatly this season.

Marchment was pretty average in the regular season after Erie traded for him but stepped up big time in the playoffs, gave Erie some good secondary scoring. He is solid defensively and a faceoff wizard. Since LA drafted him in 2014 I wouldn't be surprised if he's sent back for an OA season.

Mistele was a real nice value pick.

Highlights from Game 4 (not today's game) where Mistele scored two goals and added an assist on the game winning OT goal. He was playing on his off-wing, scoring a combined three goals in Games 4 and 5.

Jake Marchment also scores a very nice goal, starting at 5:53, with Kurtis MacDermid picking up the second assist on his goal.

On what he took away from the meeting with (Rob) Blake and company:

“They went over their plans with me and everything. It was great. I guess my mindset was the thing that mostly changed. I came out thinking, ‘This is going to be a tough decision. I’ve got to take some time, talk to a bunch of people and figure it out.’ However, I enjoyed talking with all those guys; they have helped me out so much, ever since they drafted me. They [basically] said ‘We support you, either way.’ That really stuck out, and I appreciated how they went about the whole process. It makes me even more excited for when I do make that jump to the next level.”

Kings 2014 5th round pick, Alec Dillon, has decided not to attend RPI and join the Edmonton Oil Kings instead.

Interesting decision. I guess the Oil Kings wanted someone more established, now that Jarry's probably going to play in the AHL.

Might be more beneficial for the Kings, too. With Jones reportedly wanting to get some type of guaranteed starter role, the Kings may need to call up Berube or Bartosak to be the back-up; in that case, Dillon may be getting more experience to give him the fast track to the professional game.

The six-foot-five, 170-pounder was encouraged to join the Storm by the Kings rather than return to the Grizzlies.

By joining the Oil Kings, Dillon — selected in Round 5 of the 2014 National Hockey League draft and 150th overall — can take in all of the Los Angeles’ 2015-16 training camp if he is asked to stay on following rookie camp.

Interesting. I thought with his (previous) commitment to RPI that we'd barely hear from him for quite a while.

Probably. Only has to play 1 year of junior to be AHL eligible (turns 20 next may).
