Matt Mistele gets points. Never heard of this kid. Was looking through our prospects and his numbers stood out. Anyone know anything about him?

The only time I have seen him in person was in the rookie tourney vs Phoenix before the season. He did not play particularly well in those games as he looked over-matched physically, but, a lot of players were older and more experienced, so I wouldn't read too much into it.

I was looking at Zac Leslie's stats on the Guelph Storm. He has 30 points in 37 games, but his +/- has plunged from 40 last season to -7. However, he was named Ryobi's Hardest Working Player - Defenceman for December. Curious. How's his defensive game? The Guelph has a winning record and is third in their division, so he's not on a terrible team. (I remember how good they were last year.)

So next year Manchester should be getting Leslie and Zykov.

Sorry, just saw this and thought I should respond.

Leslie is fine in his own end for the most part but he does lack decision making with the puck. Particularly in the neutral zone or when to press forward. He was a turnover machine last year but was bailed out quite a bit by Ben Harpur...who was a solid rock defensively.

This year Leslie has been with a much younger and defensively green player in Noah Carroll, who makes a fair share of bad decisions on his own. Some of the risky plays and brain farts that Leslie has have showed up in the form of minus ratings between he and Carroll. It isn't the cleanest pairing by any stretch.

Zac Leslie will play three more games for Guelph this season (Wed, Fri and Sun) before having season ending shoulder surgery to fix a nagging injury he's had since 2013. Ironically it occurred in a scuffle with Kerby Rychel who played for Windsor at the time but of course was traded to Guelph last season for their championship run. The timeline is set for him to be recovered (approx. 6 month recovery) in time to make the jump up to the AHL in September. While this is obviously the best call for him and his future career, it absolutely sucks for Guelph who has yet to play a game with there actual full lineup.

As far as thoughts on Leslie...good defensively but yes makes some bad decisions. Seems to be inconsistent, some games he's amazing, other games his rookie partner is better. Lately there has been inconsistency in who he has been partnered with as Guelph, with injuries, was only playing 5 D a number of games. He has logged huge minutes this year and his stats show it. He seems to struggle at times with getting his shot through from the point but other times has no issue. He can also rush the puck similar to (but not quite as well) as another #8 who played for Guelph.

Apparently Kempe had 15 points in his first 28 games and how sits at 17 points in 50 games.

Anyone have an idea of what happened here?

Kempe is not some offensive dynamo.

The Kid is playing in a Men's league. The Kings picked him, cause of his tremendous skating ability, and frame. The offensive will come along once he starts rounding out his game, and growing more into his body.

He's not that good offensively 5 on 5. Good on the PP and nice skater.

It would not suprise me he will turn into another Lauri Tukonen. Modo was a horrible team but 2 points in the last remaing 22 games is just bad.

Prospect that is big who can keep up in a men's league but just not enough skill.

Buzz killington.

Not sure where I should post this but I went to the 67's game the other night against Oshawa (I'm from Ottawa) and got my first looks at Lintuniemi and he was really impressive. He's good defensively and makes really good and simple plays, minimizing mistakes . He can rush the puck and has a great 1rst pass . He has a big frame and uses it well to protect the puck. His skating is average but he'll certainly work on that. He his rather agile for a guy of his size and it makes up for his average skating. They also use him on the PP and he does a great job playing the QB. Overall, I really really liked his game and would love to have him with the Sens.

Cool, thanks. I only watched him at the World Juniors and I thought he had some nice tools and a big frame but badly needed to work on his skating. Hopefully they can develop that area for him, skating was the knock on Toffoli and Pearson too if I remember correctly and they're pretty fast now.

OHL conducted a poll amongst head coaches with some Kings prospects mentioned as being some of the best in certain categories.

Spencer Watson voted #3 Most Dangerous in Scoring Area in the Eastern Conference.

Kurtis MacDermid voted #1 Best Body Checker and #3 Best Defensive Defenseman in the Western Conference.

Watching Kempe playing in the junior playoffs. He's made huge improvement since last year, completely dominant in a game with lots of talent on both sides. Skating was great last year but now he's just impossible to catch when he finds room. 4 pts in two periods in a 5-3 game.

:handclap:

Awesome to hear, especially with a lot of people poo-pooing his game after Nylander left.
