Given the increased awareness of anti bullying and domestic violence with athletes, Marchment set himself up big time talking disrespectfully to a young girl like that. Very stupid thing to do. Hopefully he grows up and learns from it.

I said and thought some pretty stupid things when I was his age, so I'm not going to comment on his character.

The Marchment thing is a joke. He's on effing Tinder! You go on there and try to get laid by strangers and, just like any message board, people say stupid things.

From reading the screencaps, those women really seemed emotionally scarred for life. Oh, wait a second...they actually made Marchment and the other guy look as stupid as they are! It's teenagers on the internet for Christ's sake.

15 games. What a world we live in. Can't believe I'm only 34 years old and I already feel like a 70 year old yelling at kids to get off my lawn. I thought PCU was funny when I was 13 but now I realize that movie was prophetic and is now frightening.

So boys will be boys, eh? Substitute racial epithets for his epithets against a female and would you still be saying it's a joke? I don't understand the excuse for abusive behavior being that he wants to "get laid." Is abusive language toward women on social media only unacceptable if Marchment didn't want to get laid?

Marchment's repulsive Tinder comments were in violation of the league's social media policy, enacted precisely because a large part of the hockey community believes that there should be a moral code and thus policies detailing unacceptable behavior in its members. The league acted responsibly in meting out consequences for violating that policy.

Bingo.

I'm with KP in that a large part of the adult population, especially athletes, is probably thinking "thank goodness there wasn't the internet/social media when I was that age." That's precisely why the education is necessary and this precedent helps the 16 year olds doing the same thing realize there are harsh consequences for putting your thoughts into writing in what is a public space (and make no mistake, ANYTHING you write on the internet is public--and maybe even more so with the recent cloud storage fiascos).

Character is who you are when no one is looking. I get that especially Marchment may have been using someone else's account so there's a double-layer of 'privacy' there being violated, and props to him for owning up quickly, but young athletes will need to learn these very harsh lessons about their connected actions while precedents are set. It echoes nearly entirely what DL said recently regarding off-ice education re: the Voynov situation.

I know 'boys will be boys' and that counterargument, but this is the world we live in--if you wouldn't say it to a newspaper, don't say it to anyone else.

I saw his game last night. He was used on the first line on the right wing. During the powerplay, the top unit used five forwards, with Mistele playing both on the point and on the left wing. He also played a bit on the PK.

The first goal he scored last night was an absolute snipe on the powerplay. Milano drew the penalty killers to him and made a cross ice pass to Mistele at the top of the left face-off circle. His wrist shot went top corner on the short side.

He gets depended a lot in the offensive zone; his teammates give him the puck a lot. He makes good decisions and moves the puck well. My biggest criticism of him is he doesn't do a whole lot of battling in the defensive end. It could be by design, and by no means does it indicate he's bad defensively. There are just some hard minutes, at the moment, he doesn't regularly play. But he did make a good defensive play to shut down a player on a potential breakaway.

On another note, holy **** is Milano a gifted player. I hoped he would have fallen a bit for the Kings to trade up to nab him. Not that I'm unhappy with Kempe, but Milano is an incredible player.

This is essentially a pretty dead on post. I have been to two games this year and several in the past. Mistele isn't the type of guy who can lead the charge by himself. Last year, only Hartman was worth a **** on the team IMO and he was just targeted a lot.. Now, Milano takes A LOTTT of attention away and it allows Mistele to do what he does best, use his body, get to open spaces and let it go. He has a nice shot, skating could use a little work but I definitely have seen progress.

Again.. wow, Milano might really, really become a beaut in the near future.. kid is just poised..

Mistele, IMO could become a top 6/9 guy..i cant see him on the 4th line but he has the size to do it.. I don't see top end potential from him but he could also become more of a late bloomer. He was definitely a steal/worth the gamble in the 7th round.. then again, he was brutally lost last year..

Sticks and stones. It's toss-away comments on a platform that is designed to be nothing more than a way to have NSA sex. If you want to equate it to making racist comments, that's your fun life to lead.

If there is a policy in place and he violated it then there you go; however, the attacks on this kid saying he has horrible character because of this are ridiculous, especially in light of his character being a large part of why he was drafted along with the fact that he stepped up and admitted it was him and not his teammate who sent the messages.

He said some stupid things on the internet. I guess he and millions of people around the world, including a large part of HF, possess horrible character. Let's string everybody up ASAP before another woman has something stupid said to her by a guy tying to get laid and then proceeds to respond in a way that makes the guy look even more pathetic. Thank god that the OHL and the various White Knights on internet message boards are here to keep the world safe from guys with no game.

Thanks Sam!

Whoa, great numbers from LaDue as a defenseman. I always want to hear more about that guy. Very unheralded amongst our prospects but he always seems like one of the better ones. Also great to see Mistele return to form.

Brodzinski has also had a terrific start to his junior season. He's one of those guys who seems to always fly under the radar when it comes to Kings' prospect rankings. I said this at the time of the trade, but I think he's one of the reasons why the team was able to afford to move Hudson Fasching.

Thanks Sam!

LaDue had a hot start but has been pointless in his last 5 games.

Personally I've always been a big LaDue guy.

Just a real solid all-around defenseman. Sort of has an Alec Martinez feel to his game except he's a bit bigger and a little more offensive oriented.

He really bullied his way into the starting lineup for UND last year as a freshman and it's great to see him take another step forward his sophomore year. Got NCHC player of the week honors a couple of weeks back. Maybe looking at a 25-30 point season which is pretty solid.

Misele 2 more goals now has 20 goals in 25 games this year after scoring only 18 all of last year...:handclap:
Also goals today by Amadio (11 goals in 25 games after scoring 12 all of last year) and Middleton...

What WAS the deal with Mistele, anyway? He slid because he had a down year, correct? Was there any particular reason like sickness or injury? Or did it just look like he didn't progress? At least the numbers are coming around this year.

I think one of the articles I read at time of the Draft said that after a productive rookie season he was looked at to step up and carry a big load for the team, but struggled with the pressure.

Edit:

There was also this from Futa:

Vice President of Hockey Operations and Director of Player Personnel Michael Futa:
If you look at his underage year, I think he scored 40 goals in his first year in the OHL, and this year there were injuries, suspensions, a lot of drop-off. We’ve got to get him back to where he was. That’s our job as a staff, development staff. But this kid’s got incredible touch, incredible touch.

Not a single player of Plymouth had a positive +/- that year. The 4th best player had 38 points and they still managed to reach the playoffs.

Odd.

Yeah it was more him dropping due to not matching his rookie numbers in his draft year. I think it's really helping him having Sonny Milano and Mathew Campagna (20 year old Kings camp invitee) to line up with so he can just focus on playing instead of being heavily leaned on to contribute and lead like he was last year.
