No disrespect to St. Cloud, unquestionably a great program, but Jonny Brodzinski would be best served not to return for his senior year, despite what happens this year. He may be a junior, but he's actually the age of a typical senior. He dominated the league last year offensively, and this year it's his job to prove he can be leader and play a solid two-way game. I sure hope he's Manch-bound at season's end.

Matt Mistele has 2 goals and an assist so far... looking at his stats he has 17 pts so far in 12 games (8 goals) last year all year scored 18, the year before scored over 30... I know entering last year he was maybe a 2nd rounder, fell to the 6th, anyone how has seen him, is he another steal for the Kings?

Sam ~ Thanks for doing the stats. You are a legend. MacDermid starting off strong playing on McDavid's team as I believer over-ager. Also, Mistele I believe playing on line with Sonny Molano so he should have a fantastic year. Zykov's stats not impressive considering he had one five point game.

Hopefully he will have a bounce back season after regressing last year.

Now he's playing with Sonny Milano too, who played his 1st game of the year.

The leading scorer of Plymouth only had 54 pts last season. Seems to me that whole team couldnt score a goal and Mistele either. Two years ago people thought he could be a late 1st/early 2nd rounder. Now the Kings grabbed him in the 6th round.

I saw his game last night. He was used on the first line on the right wing. During the powerplay, the top unit used five forwards, with Mistele playing both on the point and on the left wing. He also played a bit on the PK.

The first goal he scored last night was an absolute snipe on the powerplay. Milano drew the penalty killers to him and made a cross ice pass to Mistele at the top of the left face-off circle. His wrist shot went top corner on the short side.

He gets depended a lot in the offensive zone; his teammates give him the puck a lot. He makes good decisions and moves the puck well. My biggest criticism of him is he doesn't do a whole lot of battling in the defensive end. It could be by design, and by no means does it indicate he's bad defensively. There are just some hard minutes, at the moment, he doesn't regularly play. But he did make a good defensive play to shut down a player on a potential breakaway.

On another note, holy **** is Milano a gifted player. I hoped he would have fallen a bit for the Kings to trade up to nab him. Not that I'm unhappy with Kempe, but Milano is an incredible player.

There were plenty of people who were surprised he fell as far as he did. I know of a handful of scouts who were even putting Milano up in the top 5-8.

I believe that. He's definitely one of the most talented players from the draft that I saw.

Thanks to CNS for linking to a half-hour interview with Mike Futa talking about prospects Zykov, Kempe, McKeown, Watson, as well as Manchester's Colin Miller, Derek Forbort, and Jordan Weal. Link.

Mistele is a gamer, kid has incredible hands. Needs to work on his D zone, like moving his feet more. Tanner Pearson had the same problem.

I think Matt is a steal in the 6th round, good job by Futa/Lombardi.

Zykov missed Baie Comeau's game against Chicoutimi yesterday, he left during the warm up and was taken to the hospital, turns out he has a hernia in his groin area. http://www.le-drakkar.com/article/victoire-de-7-5-sur-chicoutimi , Sorry the articles in french but the part that mentions Zykov basically talks about his hernia and how he under went some tests at the hospital and more information will follow after todays game against Sherbrooke. But the rumors floating around Baie Comeau message boards are that he will miss 4-5 weeks for surgery.

Thanks for the update, Gazoo. I had read the words hernia and hospital but knew little else. Hope everything goes smoothly for Valentin.

According to Russia U20 coach Bragin, Zykov might miss the WJC in December/January because of that injury.

Seems like most of the new draftees are putting up good numbers so far this season. Good to see and I'm curious to see in 4+ years who "makes it" to the show.

Jake Marchment is in some deep ****

The OHL has suspended Peterborough's Greg Betzold & Belleville's Jake Marchment 15 games each for sexist, abusive language towards 2 women

Wow. Jake Marchment is not someone I want on the Kings. What a lack of character and respect towards women.

Important article. Thanks for the link. The applause of the crowds is temporary. The only real legacy we leave is how we treat others.

Awful in general, but he couldn't have picked a worse time in the current sports climate.

Should open some interesting discussions about privacy and the internet in my field, which is always my interest--not that that is any excuse; if it's in digital writing, it's out there--I appreciate that he owned up to it but that's just wrong. Good article linked too, though. BUt ugh. What a situation. Especially with the Kings org going through the Voynov situation I can't imagine they'd sit on this lightly with the emphasis on character and recent statements Lombardi made about educating folks outside the rink.

Meh, typical overreaction you have to have right now. Was it a immature stupid thing to do? Yes, but he is also young and immature...also its Tinder....might as well be a "bar scene" online with the way people act...even more so because you don't have actually say it to the persons face.

I just laugh at this.

I do not encourage this at all, let me get this straight but its also typical again this conversation has hit the internet.

Jake "I have been drafted by a NHL team" Marchment has character issues too.

Both stink in my book.

15 games seems harsh, he comes off as a douchey dumb kid but that's not really a crime. Oh well, maybe this forces him to grow up a bit.

The Marchment thing is a joke. He's on effing Tinder! You go on there and try to get laid by strangers and, just like any message board, people say stupid things.

From reading the screencaps, those women really seemed emotionally scarred for life. Oh, wait a second...they actually made Marchment and the other guy look as stupid as they are! It's teenagers on the internet for Christ's sake.

15 games. What a world we live in. Can't believe I'm only 34 years old and I already feel like a 70 year old yelling at kids to get off my lawn. I thought PCU was funny when I was 13 but now I realize that movie was prophetic and is now frightening.
