I really don't think they need to push Callahan down to the third line, but that's just me. Also, saying Kreider has kicked Hags down a line is a serious overstatement. Kreider scored 1 important goal all season. Hagelin had more points in his hot streak toward the beginning of the season than Kredier did in all of his NHL games together. Kreider has a lot to prove. I'm confident he can prove it, but it still has to be done.

If any FA is going to get overpaid by the Rangers, I'd want it to be Horton, but I'd prefer to not get any of them. They're goign to cost too much and the team's cap situation going forward is already worrisome.

Let the kids step up and see who is ready to be difference maker in the NHL. Work out a new system, really focus on breakout schemes and passing drills. If at all possible, find a way to make the PP at least average.

I only say Kreider should be in the top 6 because that's where he can be most effective. He has great size, can throw huge hits, and has Hags' speed with a much better shot. He has much more raw talent suited for a top 6 role. He looked REALLY good towards the end of the Boston series. Hagelin is one of those players that can be effective on any line, which is a great part of his game, a third line of Hags-Cullen-Cally is one of the best third lines in the league easy! I'm just thinking about the kind of depth this can give us, and other than Horton I stay far away from free agency. MAYBE make a move on Fistric or Streit of DZ is gonzo. Other than that, ********* class in a while out there.

Kreider got shifts on top 6 earlier in the year and looks very out of place. There is a reason he was on the 4th line in the NHL, simply not ready to be a top 6 forward. I wonder why I don't see Miller getting consideration for top 6 ice time when he was better in the AHL and NHL this season.

I disagree with Hagelin on 3rd line only because he works really well with Stepan and Nash. That line killed for us this year

Both of Hagelin and Callahan should be on the 3rd line.

That would be an elite level third line. It's realistic, too, with the acquisition of a 2nd line scoring winger.

Agreed Lundsanity, even last year, he was put on with Richards and Gaborik and they tore it up down the stretch heading into the playoffs.

How many concussions has Horton suffered? At least two in the last 2 years. He was concussed in the 2011 finals by Aaron Rome. That hit changed the series. Concussed during the 11-12 and didn't finish the season. He missed some games this season too with an upper body injury. Don't know if that was a head injury. Big injury risk. Clowe suffered two concussions. That has to hurt his market value. All of these head injuries add up.

How many 3rd liners score half their goals in the PP?

Without PP goals his production over the last three seasons would be 13, 16, and 10.

People complain about depth and then when presented with an idea on how we could get really good depth balk at moving Cally and Hags down.

definitely, he might not be a top line player, but its about chemistry and working well together, those 3 have it

Why not Zuccarello? He was second on the team in points in the playoffs, and he played well. He's young and still has room for improvement.

I love how when Zucc was an unproven commodity, everyone lambasted Torts for not giving him top-6 time with legitimate talent, but now that he's gone out there and proven he can hang with the big boys and produce in the top-6, all of a sudden he's not a viable option. Makes a lot of sense.

Kreider needs to stay with Stepan and Nash, as well. That was an excellent combo when put together for game four and five.

Would rather have Kreider than Hagelin in the top 6 role. Possibly a faster player an easily superior in skill.

Love him to death, but Haggy fills his gloves with cement before games.

more than half of Cally's goals come from the PP or SH. Ideal third liner. What's wrong with moving him down a bit? We'd have depth! Isn't that what we WANT?

This is nuts, first it was Brassard and Hagelin, then Cally, now its hags AND cally on a 3rd line?? This isnt nhl 13. There is not one team in the NHL that BOTH of them would be a 3rd line

Call me crazy, but I still think young players need to earn their ice time and Kreider hasn't done that yet while Hags and Callahan absolutely have and then some.

OMG SO NHL 13Z.

It's called depth, and it's what elite teams have in this league.

Perhaps the lines don't start out that way, but moving forward, that's, ideally, the look this team should be going for.

Definitely a big risk. Bruins fans also complained that he doesn't play that physical consistently like they expected him to when he was traded from Florida.

I agree with BB.

The problem is not or me that Callahan or Hagelin being demoted to 3rd line players, that's probably where they should be. But I just think it's silly that Chris Kreider, a player who failed to crack the top 6 of the Rangers, had subpar AHL production and inconsistent NHL game besides 2 games vs. Boston somehow has surpassed both Hagelin and Callahan, two good proven NHL wingers on the depth chart. Classic 'what have you done for me lately' if I've ever seen one.

Kreider has to earn ice time and he clearly hasn't done it yet.

The Rangers can't play and pay Callahan ($5M plus) he will want on the 3rd line. A $5M 3rd liner?

Sure they can. They paid Chris Drury and Brad Richards to center the 4th line. Impossible is Nothing with Glen Sather.

its not depth when u have 2 people on the 3rd line better than two in your top 6, thats called mis management
