In this case he could have said "I had the self-drive feature on but it just went crazy and started driving towards other cars and mailboxes. Im relieved no one got hurt. Fine, but he can get help with jail time as well. I don't think anyone drunk driving should go unpunished. Just because people get lucky and get home safe, doesn't mean much, as all it takes is one mistake and many peoples lives can be ruined, because some idiot had to go have drinks and then drive afterwards.
