I wouldn't trade del zotto for a 1st, the Rangers have proven they can't draft a 1st rd talent in the 1st rd time and time again so that's a waste. I'd rather move him for a winger who can score 25-30 goals who is in the NHL now

I do think Sather will make a trade but I have no idea who goes.

I am fine with Biron as backup and Talbot after next yr.The King is the man of course

not sure how they deal DZ since he's the best offensive Dman they go. I like Moore on the PP and I can't see McD, Girardi, Staal going anywhere. Stralman rounds out the D. I would be fine with Eminger as a cheap spare again but if they go with Bickel because of his one way deal so be it. They just better have call up options like McIlrath. Pray Sauer gets back at some point of course

If they buyout Richards I want Weiss even though he had a crap yr. Stepan, Brassard are locked in. I am going to say they keep Boyle but use him as they should at 4th line C, 3rd line wing and Pker

LW , Nash of course, yea I know he can play both sides but keep him in one spot. I bring back Clowe for 2nd line, Hagelin, 3rd, then Powe and Haley depending what they need on the given night.

RW, Callahan. Kreider and Zuccarello battle for ice time. Dorsett will be a good energy guy.Asham is fine on the 4th line
That's 14 F, still have Miller, Fasth, Lindberg, Hrvik, Newbury maybe others as callups

I would trade Pyatt for a late draft pick

yea close to the same team but the coach and style is the main change

Exactly. The team is trying to win now. Any 1st round pick (outside of perhaps the top couple overall selections) will almost certainly require a year or two before they are NHL ready.

To soft at the top six. Don't trust Stepan to be a #1 center over an 82 game stretch. Aside from Nash and to a lesser extent Callahan we have no consistent scoring threat from the top 6

Weird because Derek Brassard is on the team too. Is he talented?

Having Callahan and Nash on two different lines means they will have a scoring threat on the top two lines. I dont' care if you dont' trust Stepan. He's 23 years old and has gotten better every year. Do players peak at 23? No, but that doesn't help your argument at all.

To slow and not enough talent at the bottom 6.

It's very possible one of Kreider or Hagelin will be a bottom 6 forward next year. I'm not sure if you know which players they are but they are very fast. Dorsett is also a good skater. The league also allows teams to make trades and sign these players called free agents. I'm assuming you think the roster will be the exact same one that ended the season. It won't be....

No PPQB. regardless of how talented MDZ may look, he's shown no ability to make the right decisions at that role.

Yes, but who knows what will happen this off-season. Why can't the power play be addressed during free agency or a trade? Also, the system the Rangers used on the power play should improve...right? If the Rangers had a top 15 to 10 power play all season and in the playoffs it's very likely we are talking about playing the Penguins right now...
Passive players populate the line up aside from a guy like Dorsett

Define passive players? If the Rangers bring back Clowe it's possible every line will have a bit of "chippiness" on it. That doesn't mean anything to you though. It doesn't fit your narrative, neither do facts or reason.

Unless the above are corrected AND the teams grasps the new coaches concept early, contending is a pipe dream.

So the team can't struggle at all. New coaches never win the Stanley Cup? I can't even understand how you can think this, how you can post any of this. Than to say the other day the best coach is someone nobody ever heard of....As if it's 1987 and nobody has the internet. Unless you really mean that....I don't know....Either way it makes me sit back and thoroughly enjoy your posts.

Which is somewhat ironic considering MDZ is a NYR first round pick.

And the Rangers are going to ice the EXACT same lineup next season? They have nothing to build around? Hank doesn't give them a chance to in every night? A new system and better Special Teams won't help?

There's a lot of holes and limited plugs available out there to fill them.

Let's say for arguments sake that we fill them all appropriately. We still have to hope for the team to grasp the coaches new scheme and then contend for a title in one year?

I'm skeptical

Seems like a lot to ask

Skeptical is one thing. Writing off next season (as you've done) is another...

The team COULD grasp the coaches scheme and contend at the same time. It's not like a new coach is going to come in and try a system that doesn't fit the roster. It's not like these players have only played in one system their entire careers.

Rangers trading for a PMD and or top 6 winger + 1 signing could put them right there.. because that winger pushes others down.

Provided the Rangers traded for the 7th overall, they would have pick someone way off the board to colossally screw up the pick.

I'd take just about anyone projected to go from 5-10. I'll go out on a limb and say just about anyone there is a safe bet to be a top 6 forward or top 4 defenseman. As I said in my post on the last page, my picks would Nichuschkin, Monahan, and Ristolainen in that spot. Barkov will be off the board by 7.

This year's draft has three tiers in the first round. You have the top 3 of Jones, Mackinnon, and Drouin. Barkov, Lindholm, Monahan, Nichuschkin, Ristolainen round off the top 8, then a drop off after that for the rest of the first round.

at 7 u get 1 of Jones, MacKinnon, Drouin, Barkov, Lindholm, Monahan, or Nichuschkin. I'd trade MDZ straight up for any of those players.

If we make the playoffs in 2013-14 that to me is successful.

Anything more will be a bonus.

Looking at it any othervway is setting yourself up for disappointment.

Contending for a cup next year is pie in the sky.

Anything is possible I suppose. I just don't see it.

What about Lindholm? I've seem him going in the top 7 in mocks. I've also seen Monahan going to NJ at 9.

Why would making the playoffs be a surprise? We should be better next season than this. Assuming Staal returns and Cally/Hagelin are close to 100% not to far into the season that's a nice boost right there. I'm not suggesting the team as currently constructed is a contender...but certainly they are once again a playoff team that can win a round or two, no?

prospects are just that for a reason.. many top 10, hell even top 5 picks have fallen. del zotto could bring legit scoring help jmo

Because they are still to soft at top 6, still no secondary scoring in the top 6, still to slow and talentless on the bottom 6. Passive throughout the line up. No legit PPQB

To many holes to fill, not enough adaquete plugs available via the system or via ufa.

He's there, look again ;)

Monahan drops to 9 in some mocks because they have Darnell Nurse going 7th or 8th. Some team may reach for him, but I'm higher on Ristolainen as a defensive prospect, and higher on Monahan overall. Nurse seems to be a boom/bust pick, with more bust potential than boom. Don't see him being better than a decent #4 if he doesn't hit the gym.

Even if I don't disagree with any of those statements...you are admitting we are essentially the same team. And I'm saying having a healthy Staal, Cally and Hags, with Brassard and Moore for the entire season means we will be better than we were this year. And if they could find a way to actually just be mediocre on the power play as opposed to dreadful and that's a few more wins right there. So even without changing personnel, they should be better.

I dont know, but if we pick up another scoring winger via trade or signing, I think u may be shocked. I think there is more talent with this team than people think because of a system that worked 10 years ago

How did I miss that? Definitely got up too early today. I just hope the Devils aren't awarded the "Best Pick in the Draft" award when a top 5 consensus pick drops to them at 9.
