its not talking about a plan B, its providing one point as to why the contract is less risky. I obviously dont want Brunner on a deal where he is completely unmoveable, regardless of how confident I am

I'm just discomforted by the fact that people are thinking of ways to unload a contract that hasn't even been signed or made official yet. Is that not a red flag?

every single time you sign any player, no matter how good they are, you have to factor in a contingency plan. noone is saying that were signing Brunner to a reasonable deal so that when he sucks we can dump him off, but the option has to be there

if you go around signing deals with no plan, you will suck as a GM

Alright then. I see it as a red flag, you see it as a necessary precaution. Agree to disagree, no?

I know this means absolutely nothing, but I thought it was a funny tidbit I'd share with you all...

I updated all the rosters in NHL 13 with current signings including moving Kovalchuk off the team. Also, even though it isn't official, I put Brunner on the team and our team still has a 4.5 star offense! hahahahaahaahha. 2/3 of the lineup is in the high 70's! lol video games.....

I need to see Brunner in a large sample size over a full season. That's why I'd prefer a one year deal.

Really, anything more than 1 or 2 yrs makes little sense right now. We're an ideal fit for him as much as he is for us. He wants Top 6 minutes and we are a team that can give it to him.

I just think a longer term at decent money (3-3.5m) is very risky for a guy like him right now.

I don't see the big deal, 99% of contracts are evaluated with "and if we have to move him later it's not an unmovable contract." Welcome to the cap era.

The thing is, I'm not sure if it's any more risky than the Clowe contract.

It's even more unnerving to me that people are already talking about "plan B" in case he doesn't pan out. Come on.

I agree with you guys: I'd prefer Brunner for 1-2 years. But I also wouldn't mind 3-4 years because I recognize that he's not a guy like Volchenkov that would lose value to the point of being unmovable if that became the case.

I actually think he would do well here; I'm simply explaining that I don't think we should shy away in fear from signing him. Do we break the bank? No - but we give him an offer that he thinks is fair and that we can work with it it ultimately doesn't work out

the thing is, you aren't getting Brunner on a year deal most likely.

so if you want him, its multi year or nothing.
