Henrique is a complete player. He has everything, goal scoring, leadership abilities, 2 way ability, etc. He is a perfect Devil if you will.
On Vanek, no Henrique. But an interesting part of a deal could be a guy like Wedgewood. With Schneider here now we have our goalie (I'm banking that he resigns). Wedgewood is a solid goaltending prospect and Miller is probably on his way out and not getting younger. Wedgewood would give Buffalo another goaltending prospect with Hackett for the future.
I would entertain...Wedgewood, Matteau, Carter/Bernier, + a 2nd/Burlon/Scarlett for Vanek and Tropp
Elias-Zajac-Ryder
Henrique-Loktionov-Vanek
Zubrus-Josefson-Brunner
Olesz-Carter-Clowe
That lineup has 3 pure goal scorers (Ryder, Brunner, Vanek), two way guys (Zajac, Henrique, Josefson), playmakers (Elias,Loktionov), grinders (Zubrus, Clowe, Carter, Olesz).
Talk about depth. At the end of the day I don't think any team is going to give up anything near what Buffalo is looking for for Vanek. He is also on the last yr. of his contract. With the above deal you get a solid goaltending prospect, a power forward top 9/maybe top 6 winger prospect, a solid depth player, and a high pick/promising but raw D prospect (just a step below the Severson, Merrill tier). Or buffalo runs the risk of getting nothing if Vanek walks.
Additionally, Vanek could be that big deadline pickup when Buffalo may reliaze "OK we are out of the playoffs, Vanek won't be resigning, find the best possible deal."
