and I don't want Raymond. I would've taken him before we got the other guys in FA but we don't need another third liner.

Yea I don't see how Raymond would fit anywhere. We really only need 1 more forward. Anymore and we have to move current bodies.

Thomas Vanek is not a lazy player.

He comes off as very nonchalant and cavalier the way he plays on the ice, but he's not lazy. He just plays a low maintenance game like Elias does.

No to Pheneuf but Eklund also says NJ is talking with St Louis. Now....one thing I could see if NJ looking to trade for Alex Pieterangelo. We'd have to give up one roster d-man and with us going after Brunner and having too many forwards, I'm thinking possibly Josefson.

I'd try moving Volchenkov, with NJ taking back $500K of his salary, Josefson, and Tedenby for AP.

Although since I have a Larsson Jersey would NJ deal Larsson and Josefson for Pieteragelo?

There is literally no one on the Blues I'd trade for. Pietrangelo is an RFA without a contract and would take way too much to trade for. They have 12 million in space. Maybe we can send Salvador back there lol

the only player on the Blues id be remotely interested in is Oshie, and I doubt he is moved

Nothing new on Brunner?

Nothing new and no one is bothering to answer my question because everyone hates me now for my comments in the OT thread. :sarcasm:

Anyway, Remember how Lou operates?

He always does things on TUESDAYS.

We'll probably know by tomorrow when(if?) Brunner is signed.

No way is St. Louis moving Pietrangelo unless there's some issues with Larsson and need of a change of scenery, and even then I'm not sure St. Louis would make the move unless they are wary of paying Pietrangelo all the money he's going to get.

Also, I don't really want Phaneuf.

As for Vanek, I honestly don't like him for us for reasons a lot of people have already discussed. Also he's probably going to pull a BFF redux with Pominville in Minnesota where he has a home. At least that's what all the Wild fans keep thinking. I personally don't see it happening unless both players take well below FA market deals as despite having Heatley off the books, they will be a team that is tight financially and against the cap. Some of their younger players are going to be due raises soon.

that...is silly.

Not saying I don't like the players... but given what the Devils have already... I would certainly take Tarasenko, Shattenkirk, Pietrangelo, and Backes... but we would have to trade for everyone. None of the vet forwards we have are going to be traded, no one wants to trade Henrique, no on wants Salvador and Volchenkov, and all of our D prospects are vastly unproven. We also don't have a first round pick.

the wild are not going to be signing Vanek AND Pominville on top of all the crap they have to sign

Yup. I agree, but our old buddy "Muck" seems to think otherwise. They don't have all that much cap space despite washing Heatley off the books, and they are a team that does have very real limitations on it's financial resources despite being a popular hockey market. I believe it's owner has pretty much put the GM on notice there too now.

What question? Can we add anyone else after Brunner, like Raymond? Maybe but we'll be cutting it close with the Henrique raise.

not that close really. we have 10M and say Brunner, JJ and Henrique take about 7M that leaves 3M. plus Raymond would replace a penciled in 3rd liner so if we sign him at say 2M, the actual cap change is only about 1M

but that depends what you consider being close to the cap is

I realize that, but I wouldn't call the rumored Brunner contract an albatross either. IF he flops, it's an overpayment for a skilled winger that just got a bit too much $$. Easy enough to unload if it doesn't work out. If Tallinder can be moved, so could a 28/29 yr old Brunner - it just may not yield a pretty return.

It's even more unnerving to me that people are already talking about "plan B" in case he doesn't pan out. Come on.

I'm done talking about the Brunner contract. You're clearly not understanding that he has 44 games to his NHL career and your penciling him into our top 6 for the next 4 years based on half of a season. No one gives a **** about Swiss stats. Kristian Huselius once led the Swedish league in points one year, IIRC.

I hope the kid pans out, but this is a risky contract to hand out.

Thank you.

its not talking about a plan B, its providing one point as to why the contract is less risky. I obviously dont want Brunner on a deal where he is completely unmoveable, regardless of how confident I am
