When factored with a few other bad contracts, it's concerning. If these players fall flat on their face, there isn't much wiggle room.

In business, you take risks. Hockey is a business.

There is an equal chance of Zajac not living up to his contract but there seems to be a lot less talk about that on here...

When confronted with Clarkson leaving, signing Clowe was one of the better decisions Lou could have made at the time. Hell, I would have rather given that contract to Clowe than to Clarkson. Meanwhile, everyone, and I mean damn near everyone, is freaking out that he had ONE horrible year... A lockout-shortened season that saw him traded to the Rangers, and he was plagued with injury to boot.

I, for one, will wait until I actually see Clowe lace 'em up for New Jersey before passing judgment. For all we know, this could be a change of scenery the guy needed and he could thrive as a part of DeBoer's Devils.

In other words: Chill out.

Adam Henrique, Travis Zajac, Adam Larsson, Andy Greene, Cory Schneider, Reid Boucher, and the plethora of D prospects are going to be the heart of the team going forward. The team's future is fine and brighter than it's been in years. We're an elite winger away from being a top team. You're insufferable.

And how do you expect to pay for the aforementioned (aside from Zajac) when Lou is indiscriminately throwing around cap dollars like a drunk sailor? Eventually, they are going to come to term.

If a guy came in and scored 25 goals next season from 2/3 lines for 3 million that would be a steal of a price in my opinion.... and this guy is 27 years old, it very much can be a long term relationship if things worked out well.

I don't consider Brunner a panic move either. The contract, depending on what we might give him... could be. You gotta kick the tires on a guy like that. We don't have Zetterberg, but we have Elias. Skill-wise they're on par. We dont have a datsyuk, though.

I agree with Jim. 4 years at $3m... is risky, but certainly not a handicap. I'd prefer a little bit cheaper (always) but that's what you're gonna have to pay to get him. It will be at least 3 years, that's for sure.

What are you talking about? We are gonna have a buttload of space next year. Lou is not spending that much. Clowe is overpaid but Ryder is on a good deal. You are so negative.

Furthermore, is Brunner that much better than Tedenby or even Gavrus? Small, fleet of foot, skilled and not defensively responsible. Brunner sounds like players in our system.

They're practically the same size and similar skillset. Gavrus' problem is that he's made of glass.

Garvus may never see the NHL. Why even drop his name there? And at this point in time Brunner is a much more proven scorer than Tedenby, as well.

That remains to be seen. If you threw Tedenby on a line with Datsyuk and Zetterberg, I can assume he would be somewhat productive. Like I said, this is a panic move. It's not like this is Milan Lucic, a player the devils do not have in their organization.

Brunner scored 12 goals in 44 games with Datsyuk and Zetterberg. This isn't a gamebreaker.

I don't know what game breaker means.. but I know that he had 1 more goal than Kovalchuk did and Brunner was a rookie.

But he would be asked to contribute with 2nd or 3rd line scoring, probably some 2nd unit pp time, hopefully pot a few goals to the 20 range. That is worth 3 million easily.

Why do you when follow this team? You are not only incredibly ignorant regarding the devils and the sport in general, but you piss and moan about everything. Childish clown..

Please tell me he didn't compare Brunner to Tedenby and Garvus ........

That tells you why he doesn't like the deal. Brunner is vastly superior to those aforementioned players .

Tedenby is just awful and Garvus is a prospect

Grabovski seems to fit the system better and has been know to put the puck in the net as well. (20+ goals 2 season before this 1).

I honestly would take either, just don't understand what he isn't on our radar. Or maybe he is.

Likely no one is on Grabovski's radar right now since he's still honeymooning, I think. I doubt he even expected to be a free agent this season.

Childish clown. Yes, that's what I am. Questioning the Lou the magnificent makes me a clown. :shakehead I made Lou draft Matteau and not take the cap circumvention penalty at #29. I made Lou hold onto Clarkson and the many other FAs that walked away for NOTHING. I'm the one telling him to spend into oblivion when Vanderbeek is up to his eyeballs in arena debt. Where is my clown car so I can drive away?

if Tedenby excelled in the Swedish League for 8 years, then came to the NHL and adapted to the smaller ice and more physical game really quite well, then you could compare him to Brunner

No, that would be Vanderbeek, hence part of the reason why Vanderbeek is in debt.
