Speculation: 12/13' Trades/Proposals: Short season is better than none, now for trades.

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. I actually respected mirtle for quite a while, but it seems to me that he has changed his ways. His become like the rest of them with the dumb teasing, **** disturber, or zomg I know why Burke got fired, go check our website or print! Lol...
 
The Leafs are going to have enough cap space to make serious pitches for Getzlaf, Perry, AND Edler. And with a new (apparently more likeable) GM and CBA, we could have a very eventful offseason.

I think Burke has a great hockey mind, but, I think Nonis is a more attractable GM, for players.

Edit: I mean "I agree,... that Nonis is likely more attract... etc.

not to mention it'll be the first time we'll have a gm that won't be working with a hand tied behind his back with all his self-imposed rules that nobody else follows
 
Breaking news...Leafs are going to acquire Corey Perry, a block buster 3 way with Vancouver/Philly, and a bunch of things! Oh yeah, that was before Burke was fire. :shakehead
 
Are NHL GM's even allowed to discuss potential player transactions until the lockout is officially over and camps begin?

Unrelated thought: Which player in recent Leaf history has received this much constant wide-spread speculation through major news networks and not been acquired by the Leafs?

I'd like to believe that he's on his way, at this point I'd be more surprised if he doesn't end up in a Leaf uniform.

I think they can. Agents and GM's can talk contracts but not sign anything, so I think the same applies for GM to GM conversations.

I'm not sure if officially they can but I'm sure there's chatter in the background.

Now wouldn't you trade Kessel in that situation? I think I would.

To Tampa: Kessel, Kadri

To Toronto: Purcell (2nd line rw), Connoly (3rd line RW), Koekoek (good D prospect), 1st round or second round pick.

If we somehow acquired BOTH Getzlaf/Perry, I think I would almost definitely consider trading Kessel. Even without him, the top 6 could include:

JVR-Getzlaf-Perry
Lupul-Grabo-Kadri/Frattin/Kulemin/etc

I would try and move him for some much needed longterm help in goal though if possible. If we had Getzlaf/Perry, Kessel would be pretty expendable. The winger depth would still be great without him, and Perry >> Kessel.
 
To Toronto:
Perry
Conditional 1st Round Pick (If Perry doesn't resign)

To Anaheim:
Kessel
Conditional Third Round Pick (If Perry doesn't resign for T.O)

To Vancouver:
Grabovski
Komisarek

To Toronto:
Luongo

Not sure if this deal makes sense because Toronto can just wait until Perry becomes a UFA. But perhaps Toronto can extend Perry's contract as soon as he's traded.

Sign Getzlaf in the offseason.

Interesting, this rumour on a Philly/Nucks three-way with the Buds. As with any three-way, it must be born out of Vancouver not wanting what Toronto has specifically, and instead wanting what another team has to offer (Philly). And Philly loves doing business with us of late, my goodness!

So from what I can postulate . . . Luongo would still be going to Toronto as the largest piece for us. That means we'd be giving something to Philly, and they'd be giving something to Vancouver.

Vancouver wants another scoring centre option; that could be Philly giving up one of Couturier or Read or even Briere, the Flyers are chock full of centres. Philly needs . . . defensive depth, and as maligned as the Leafs are, they do have a lot of 3rd pairing depth, especially if they sign Franson as expected, and more so if Reilly actually makes the team and Gardiner comes back from concussion. So, not knowing Philly's cap, that could be Komisarek, or maybe Gunarsson, or perhaps a Fraser or Kostka and picks.
 
My guess is Philly would want Holzer or Gunner. We'd obviously have to give up more but ill post a thought:

Philli gets Holzer, Canucks 2013 5th rounder
Leafs get Luongo
Vancouver get Flyers 2013 2nd rounder, Leafs 2013 2nd rounder, Kadri, Bozak

Essentially we'd give up a 2nd, Kadri, Bozak and Holzer for him. Thoughts?
