Really hoping Franson will be signed before the season starts. We need him on the blue line because without him and the fact that Gardiner is injured, that D is not looking too pretty.

Brynas today said they expect him to play out his contract with them, which is until April 30th.

His agent said he had an out clause though, so I'm not sure.

I think he definitely would have a roster spot, I agree.

I haven't seen this mentioned yet although I guess it's not too groundbreaking, but on sports centre, they had a Nonis soundbite where he said something like "if you're asking if I'd never take a player with one of those long contracts (talking about those retirement contracts), then the answer is no." So there's that.

Did he say I'd "never" or "ever"

He said never. When I heard the sentence I thought the same. by the way, I think tsn is replaying the soundbite at 6:30.

also I HATE typing on my tablet, this is terrible.

Edit: heard it again, he also mentioned they are approved by the league and the management team will have to weigh the penalties of picking up a player with one of those contracts.

Oh Oh...

Gillis is sweating. You mean he isn't worth Kadri and Gardiner lol? There are now officailly zero bidders for Luongo's ubber dumb contract. With the leafs off the board he will have to come up with a really nice package to get someone to take him.How about Kessler and five first rounders? Right back at ya nucks.

who said were out of trying to get luongo? teams offically cant even trade or negotiate yet. still a couple more days untill we will really see whats gonna happen. I am not saying were going to trade for him but noone knows whats going on because business hasn't even resumed yet.

Anyone know if after the first 2 season if there is an amnesty buy out?

Or is it 2 Amnesty buyouts for the following 2 seasons and thats it?

Vancouver will now have to pay someone to eat that contract.

I don't think it's that bad a deal. 2 and change for a few years extra? He should play to at least to 38 or so like most elite goalies. Roloson is what? 50?

I'm not worried about that small amount of cap space, 7-10 years from now. We've been carrying dead wood on the cap for the whole CBA.

I do think it takes away from his trade value as a #1 goalie, but not to the point of having to pay to get rid of it.

The good news is that Burke is still a Leafs employee

:sarcasm:

On the plus side, I dont have the #s with me, but how many teams will be able to offer Perry and Getzlaf matching large contracts taking into consideration the shrinking cap and their upcoming RFA/UFAs to re-sign. Cant imagine its many.

EDIT - Nonis was also in Anaheim. He'll have a relationship with them as well.

Yeah I hope so...maybe Carlyle can lure them? But then again Carlyle is known for being a hard-ass and not exactly the most loving coach

Even if Burkie was still here Perry would still have to deal with Carlyle.

If this rumor is true then I think there should still be a good chance Perry will be interested possibly signing with the Leafs with Nonis in charge.
