Speculation: 12/13' Trades/Proposals: Short season is better than none, now for trades.

Perry was a Leafs fan growing up and has a history with Burke and Carlyle so it wouldn't be too surprising. Plus, Mirtle isn't exactly the kind of guy who goes around **** disturbing and writing exaggerated stories and lies, he simply reports news and usually tells it like it is. Far from a Steve "TMZ" Simmons or Howard Berger.
 
If the Leafs end up extending Lupul, the chances of them landing Perry would be very minimal.

Although Perry will likely get more, you can't spend that much money on 2 guys, with so many other holes on the team.
 
perry would be a great addition, but i think nonis should shore up the back end and up the middle before doing wing tinkering
 
Let's say we sign Perry this offseason. What do we do with Kessel? Play him on the 2nd line? Trade him for a number 1 centre if we don't sign Getz also? If we do sign Getz also, I'd trade Kessel for Oshie straight up.

I named my ****ing dog after Kessel, if he gets traded or let go I don't know wtf I'm going to do.

Hopefully they hammer out an extension sometime this year. Saves me from listening to **** offers on the main board.

Maclean said in the strategy room or whatever they call it a couple of days ago that Getz is almost done. He'll get resigned I think unfortunately.

Kessel would have one year left on his contract. Oshie would have many.

How about for this next offseason after signing Perry, Getz.

To blues: Kessel

To leafs: Oshie, 1st rounder (probably a 20-25 pick)
 
Why the **** would we want Oshie in a trade for kessel? Ya lets trade an elite top 10 scorer for a dime a dozen 40 point player. This board is insane

I know expectations have been blown out of the water in the last few years, but nearly 1/2 per game at 24 is very respectable. Those are solid 3rd line point totals and he was a positive 1 on a terrible team. You don't have to be an All-Star on your entry level contract to be of value and have a bright future.

i added Rattie because the blues would need to overpay and on the condition Kessel would resign with them.

Yup looks good, but Stewart is an RFA in 2013-14. I get so much crap for overrating leafs players but now I'm under rating them hahah. Btw who would you prefer, perry or Kessel? Kessel scored more points last year and is younger, but perry has proven he can be one of NHL's best.

I think we need a small trade, Mac for a pick or a young player to clear up room for Kadri/Frattin, It also will make us forget about Burke and Lou. if Reilly can make this team then i say move JML for a 2nd round pick or a prospect.

Actually he played a ton of time with staal and that's all he was able to amass. Playing as a regular 3rd liner those numbers would be considerably worse. Guy is bust city ala kadri. We didn't "give up" on him too early. Those so called 3rd liners you speak of come a dime a dozen.

I agree. I don't think signing Lupul denotes any problems. Guys like Connolly and MacArthur are off the books and we have the ability to buyout someone without any ramifications.

My guess is -- assuming they don't re-sign in Anaheim -- that we go after both with similar deals; like what happened in Minnesota with Parise and Suter.
