Shameful. How does Cousins keep getting away with this shit? Total rat. And then he just stands there knowing what’s gunna happen. He gets plowed. And Zucker’s the one getting the suspension… if refs don’t deal with it, who does? Cousins is veering on the edge of Matt Cooke/James Neal circa-PIT style play. Moreso the former. Although the Neal hit on Couts in 2012 was brutal.

True Cousin should have finished his check properly like he finished the Leaves last year.
Posts like this are so lame. It's like you're incapable of contributing to a thread in a meaningful way and instead have to resort to pointless chirps to a guy that likely isn't even a Leafs fan. This thread isn't even about the Leafs, be better.

Cousins is an ass, but even the Arizona announcers took back what they said about the Cousins hit being intentional.

Valimaki went down as Cousins was going for the hit, he didn't really have much time to change course.

Cousins didn't do anything wrong this time around.

I don't wish long term injury anyone as that's not my thing, but I wouldn't mind Cousins "flopping" all the way till June lol.

We can finally ice a better 3rd line wing for Lundell and Luostarinen for f***s sake lmao

Too bad he left his feet, otherwise it would have been a nice clean open ice hit

There is very little meaningful posts in this thread.

It's a circlejerk loving the hit on Cousins simply because it's Cousins.

Like other Panther fans have said, most of us don't care for Cousins either, but we are stuck with him this year.

So Cousins, a despicable player and person, keeps doing these dirty and dangerous hits that the Refs don't properly handle and ends up having the players go oldschool justice on them instead and are punished for having to stand up for themselves.

George Parros is an idiot.

I mean a player has done two very dangerous hits and somehow isn't punished properly for it and will keep doing it because he keeps getting away with it and somehow you can't get why so many applaud seeing a player like him get trucked?

He has zero respect for anyone's safety. No one feels sorry for him and feels Guds and Zucker have enacted karma on his cowardly ass. Hard to feel bad there. Impossible to personally.

You had to dig 12yrs back to find something bad.

Yet all you had to do was pull up his hit on Gudbranson this season in addition to the one on Valimaki.

This is twice now Cousins being a dirt bag and gets fed his dinner and yet he’s not not suspended either. Not saying those hits/attacked on him isn’t a suspension, they are but how is the league not picking up on this.

Cousins’ reputation is well earned, but the Coyote player dropped to his knees to try and keep puck in the zone right as Cousins was coming at him. He didn’t leave his feet, and if there was an elbow it was because the Coyote player‘s foolish decision to go to his knees as a guy was coming in to hit him. I understand why Cousins gets no benefit or the doubt, but it looked like he tried to let up when the Coyote inexplicably dropped to his knees right in front of him. That’s why no call was made on Cousins.
(start 45 seconds in)

Cousins has a lot of time to stop or turn away, you want to give a player the benefit of the doubt knowing what he did to Gudbranson?

Even as a Pens fan, we didn't even bother trying to defend Matt Cooke when he did dumb shit. We just wanted him gone when it was clear he wasn't going to change.

Cousins literally has 2 dangerous hits and won't get a repeat offender status because George Parros is even worse as hit job than the Refs.

There's no justifying what Cousins did. The fact that he preys on dirty hits, has two in the same season, he's lost all benefit of the doubt.

Issue is both hits to Cousins is reactions based on a dirty hit that the Referees refused to handle and so the players being angry that their safety is a joke to the refs, retaliated. You don't get that reaction if the ref and Parros does their jobs.

Larkin already came out and talked about not feeling safe, how the hell is Parros still the head of dops? Ridiculous.

To me the blame starts at the refs and falls on the laps of Bettman and Parros.

Cousins is trash, but the initial replay in the OP gives a false impression. Watch the angle at 0:23 instead. He’s going in for a routine check and his target inexplicably drops to his knees at the very last second. What’s he supposed to do? He’s already committed and starting the hitting motion. He can’t teleport around the guy.

Totally understand Zucker retaliating, but that was a much more flagrant attempt to injure than the Cousins hit. Wouldn’t be surprised to see only Zucker getting a call from the league.

Nah that's bullshit. Cousins has enough time to let up but instead he wants to make contact and even kind of jumps into it. There's time to stop or skate to the sides and he doesn't because we know Cousins has zero regard for player safety and saw his opportunity and took it anyway because that is just the type of player and person he is. He's a disgusting person and just as disgusting as a player.

In this one you can see Cousins can slow down or turn and he doesn't because he's an opportunistic cheap shot artist and this is right in his wheel house.

Another good view - ignore or don't ignore then commentary, bloke makes valid points either way.

Other examples this season.

Elbow high on this hit.

Head shot here, no suspension

Gudbranson hit, incredibly dirty. No suspension

Cbj players talking about it - which should have been enough for Parros to be in trouble over yet hes bulletproof. This is as much as the players can even say without being fined because questioning the league further for not doing their job means they get in trouble, not the league.

So Cousins makes an incredibly dirty play that could easily seriously injure a guy, he gets hurt himself, and his team gained a material advantage in the game and season from Cousin’s goonery. Cool. Glad we promote the right sort of play.
