Gotta pay the man what he's worth. Would you rather have one Charlie McAvoy or two and a half Nick Folignos?
Both, well except the half player, we already had JFK.

You need both, you pay your superstars and if you do it right you have money for depth. Anybody have faith in Sweeney doing that.

John Moore + Jake Debrusk to Seattle for 3rd
Sign Kyle Palmieri to a 4 year 19 million deal (4.75 per)
Sign Eric Gudbranson to a 1 year 1 million per

Marshy-Bergy-Palmieri
Hall-Coyle-Pasta
Foligno-Haula-Smith
Frederic-Nosek-Lazar
Studnicka

Forbert-McAvoy
Reilly-Carlo
Gryz-Gudbranson
Vaak/Zboril/Clifton

Ullmark
Swayman
I want a lot more than a 3rd for JDB even with Moore going the other way.

Lol!

But yeah, point being it ought to be way easier for a halfway competent organization to find and replace those bottom six types on the cheap than to find the next McAvoy. Not worth handwringing about overpaying stars - I'd rather overpay for a McAvoy than a Kuraly

We would be lucky to get a bag of pucks / 12 rolls of tape and 24 water bottles for JDB and Moore.
The best thing that can happen is JDB gets hot and scores like 10 goals in 20 games, then we trade him when his value is high.
If you want to free up 6.3 mil or so in cap space you will probably have to give both away for nothing. This money could then be used for a 2c. Not convinced you can even move them at all right now.

Debrusk even if he lights it up a bit I would be reluctant to take on his salary if I owned a team. Past consistency will haunt him.

He had a bad year for sure, but he is a proven 20-25 goal scorer and only 24, don;t want another Reilly Smith type deal, I would trade him yes, but not giving him away. Moore well if he gets back to playing again, some team will need help on D and we could get a mid to late pick for him.

I think folks are underestimating Coyle as 2C. He had a bad season this last season, I grant you.

But he was a 50 point guy on Minnesota playing higher in the lineup. With guys like Nino instead of Hall and not relying on PP cheese.

The difference is that Krejci drove the points on his line. Coyle ain’t that guy. He is going to get his points working hard in the zone and giving the other guys on his line chances just by having the puck in the offensive zone.

But they don’t need him to be Krejci. HALL is Krejci. But much like with the Krejci line of the last few years…it’s short another offensive talent. Smith is fine, mind you. He isn’t a Kuhlman. But the lineup looks better with Smith on the 3rd line.

Of course, if DeBrusk rebounds…maybe you already have your Smith on the third line…

The video people posted of Coyle in that playoff run where he was great really gives me hope that he can play at another level when healthy.

People are glossing over the fact that Hall is the Krejci of the line now, not Coyle. Hall is the facilitator and puck carrier....Plus he actually has speed to collapse the defense (unlike krejci).... Have Hall carry the puck with speed into the zone, coyle crash the net.....Hall can then shoot or dish to Smith who should be good for 25 minimum. People forget this is a pace game now and Krejci just wasn't that good before Hall got here.
