I think I saw something a few weeks ago MZ will be looking for 10M on his next contract. Not sure if that is true, but if true would certainly be one and done if he came here...

At some point the Bruins (and their fans) are going to have to let go of the idea that everyone will play here for half of what they're worth.

McAvoy is going to cost $9-10m.

The Bruins next #1 center is going to cost $9m+.

And that's fine, but you have to have the right guy to pay that to. I think McAvoy is one of those guys. High end in all aspects of the game and not afraid of the bright lights. Is Zibby one of those guys? Eh. Seems like more of a high end support player than a guy you go all in with.

I agree it has to be for the right guys, but I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Zibanejad. He had 40 goals and 75 points in 56 games in 2020. 73 points the season before. Throws 120 hits and 50 takeaways per 82, plays with speed and fire... He's a real presence.

Put me firmly in the camp of not caring one iota what Charlie's contract will be, as long as he's here long-term. The lower the AAV, the better, sure. But I'm gonna be happy regardless

I like him a ton and at this point I would love to trade for him. Ideally he would fit in, the Bruins would sign him and he would be one of their top 6 centers for the next 5 years or more.

The real value in an uber-streaky player like Zibanejad is getting to the playoffs and hoping he goes on one of his berserk streaks.

Naturally, the Rangers have mostly wasted that opportunity by being lousy.

With the contract Nurse just got and Jones, I sign Mac ASAP to an extension, before the rates get to 11 M.
9M will be a bargain in a few years for a legit #1 center.

I'm curious to see what the bruins do with Charlie. I'm not a fan of weakening the rest of the line up on one player.

I wouldn't be surprised the bruins trade Charlie should the asking price impact the overall team make up.

We have enough wingers. We are really lacking a #1 LHD, Gryz or Forbert are not the answer.
An upgrade at Center is also needed before we get more wingers.
KP and ZP will end up on the Isles, hand shake is done, Isles need some cap space to make it work, then they will both sign.

That is always an option.
At the current deal Mac has, he is cheap, we could get a ton for him.
#1 dee, especially right handed are scarce.
Bergy/Pasty/Marchy all took discounts to stay with the team. I am not sure if Mac will.

I agree, I don't see him taking a discount...it will be interesting. My team wouldn't include Marner/Nurse like contracts. Love Charlie however a large contract implicates the cap and that leads to bunch of issues down the road.

I would need like Ryan O Reilly and Colton Parayko coming back in the same deal for McAvoy to not be instantly red-out angry

In other words trading him isn’t a thing and/or it better not be a thing

McCavoy needs to get 1st pp time. At least an extended look. It was gifted to Gryz last year in hopes that he would become a Krug replacement. Gryz just doesn’t have the shot that Krug had to be a true threat out there.

If McCavoy gets consistent PP time this year I see a deal getting done at good value. If not I wouldn’t even want to speculate what happens.

I don't know anything about the guy, but is there an outside chance Lysell could surprise & make the team?

I was thinking the same thing --- also without knowing much about him.

I know I'll miss a few here but the 18 year olds that I remember making the Bruins over the past 15 years or so are Bergeron, Lucic, Pasta? ---- anyone else?

Seems like Pasta was a more productive player when called up from Swedish juniors and even he spent some time in Providence. Although I’m not exactly sure how the tiers work and it seems like they were called up to different levels? Idk

also something interesting is that Pasta and Froden were teammates in Sweden. I did not know that

It's a clear fact Pastrnak was more productive, but he also moved to Allsvenskan, the AHL of Sweden, while young Fabian got limited games and limited minutes in the SHL with Lulea.

I'm not seeing the correlation between power play time and contract.
