What smoke? You're just speculating. You're also giving Sweeney the benefit of the doubt at the expense of saying Krejci didn't tell him he was done until after free agency.

That's absurd. The fact our GM signed a bunch of free agents who can play center also totally refutes any benefit of the doubt Sweeney might get.

I mean, you're bemoaning speculating but using speculation yourself in your post. I guess it all depends on who you believe but i certainly don't turn to 98.5 as my information crutch.

Didn’t he just mention in a zoom that he was told?

Speculating about Krejci wavering my guy. He hasn't said any such thing.

That's fair.

I do think there was enough smoke from people I trust in regards to both Dvorak and Garland as names being mentioned a few weeks ago. The balk was of course not only taking on the OEL contract but a 1st round pick high enough for the Coyotes, which they were intent on getting another top 10 pick.

I think the Bruins are done making moves for now anyway. If the Bruins were fine with the asking price for Dvorak, they would have traded for him the day Krejci announced he's leaving. I think their intention is to let the situation play itself out with their internal options and make their decision later.

I tend to agree and I am okay with it. I also think Coyle may have more to offer playing consistently with better talent. I am very intrigued by the talent upgrades in the bottom six, and to see the hopeful improvement from both Studnicka and Frederic. I know we always want the shiniest new toys, but I think these changes can really tell A tale over the course of the season and especially playoffs. They may need another defensman.....but then again they may not. We can't control any of it so why not sit back and enjoy the ride?

they aren’t done, it’s certainly possible nothing works out, but they’re still actively trying to improve the team

I guess I'm giving DS the benefit of the doubt here, with a little 'where there's smoke, there's fire' for good measure. If it IS just spin by our GM, that is so far over the line I can't even begin to express - because it's nothing short of exploitation.
I think DS is making the fire with his gasoline and his own match. It is a desperate look over here tactic and do not look at the real problem.

Why would Krech leave less after less than half a season over there. They play September 10th till March 8th - playoffs in April.

If he comes back it will be his wife and kids hating it more then anything. I doubt he will want to come back, he made his choice I think a long time ago.

he hasn’t retired from the NHL, so whether intended or not, that’s something

They went out and signed a bunch of guys that can play center and at this point there is no cap for him anyways. He had his chance after Hall signed. He is not coming back and uprooting his family again before Dec 15th. After that he has to pass through waivers.

I do not want to see him on the Habs or Leafs. He cannot simply walk back to the Bruins and no team can trade him back to us without Krech once again passing through waivers.

Wally said it better 'If a UFA signs with and plays with a Euro team during an NHL season then in order to return in that NHL season the player must be signed before the Trade Deadline and pass thru NHL waivers".

Could just pull a Jason Spezza and say "I'll retire if claimed".

I don't want to get my hopes up for DK coming back for the playoffs either but chances are if he does he plays for pennies and I'm sure they find a spot for him on the roster. The other guys were signed to fill holes and make sure this team can even make the playoffs in the first place. I'm not holding my breath but I think it's open or at least been discussed with Krejci

I understand all that - and I haven’t been terribly clear in any of this, so I apologize - all I was saying specifically is the lack of an actual retirement is sufficient cause to at least wonder

Hi All......signed up years ago here but never really posted. Always enjoyed reading everyone's posts over the years and love the information shared by Dom, Kirk, DKH, GeeWally and many others. Thanks for entertaining me over the years! I find I have way to much time on my hands these days so figured I may as well join the fray. I've seen a lot of chatter about Christian Dvorak lately. I admit I have not seen him play much.....does he move the needle for us? Is there another level for him to reach?
:welcome:

Have some cookies, stay a while

I know nothing about Dvorak, sorry. lol

So, the sum of all talk about our own players up til now is... a). the trio from the infamous 2015 draft may very well get real 'action' this season (Senyshyn, Zboril and DeBrusk) and b). a trio from our old core may show up as extra reinforcements come play off time (Rask, Krejci... and a still unsigned Chara)! Now that is what I call premises for dramaturgy... =)
