Connecting the dots here. Stastny had a full NMC. Except for a few really smart fans on here nobody was talking about this. No insiders. Does this mean he would only waive for the jets? Did the Blues start the conversation?

Foley is a great prospect. Not blue chip but not far either.

Good trade, i think DA made the right move. Now we just need to figure out what to do with our gluttony of 3rd liners in the offseason.

Also, as a big fan of the whole draftt strategy and process, i'm happy i get to research more prospects knowing we currently own a 1st in the upcoming draft, although i wont be shocked if it's moved in the offseason.

Jets fan here. I think both sides generally agree this was a fair deal. Pretty gutsy for your GM to make this deal given that you’re on the playoff bubble, but it does make sense for the long-term benefit of your franchise. The Central is hyper competitive and it will be tough to make it to the WCF.

Most Jets fans think Stastny will slot between Ehlers and Laine.

If you folks don’t make the show, hope to see a few of you cheer Stastny on. He will likely play a very big role for us.

Cheers!

Blanick got what he wanted! You've been shouting to move Stastny from the mountain tops since like November haha.

It's true. While I did not predict this collapse I had been saying that moving Stastny would smartest move going forward. If we could somehow win the draft lottery to keep our pick and then draft another useful player with the Winnipeg pick we could supplement the current core and do a 1 or 2 year re-tool.

I don’t mind the trade. I don’t think anyone here truly believes the Blues had what it takes this year, and it’s good to get back in to the first round instead of getting nothing for Stas.

But it is a little sad seeing what a gongshow the blues are right now. There’s some discord that hasn’t been there in a long time. There are certainly other teams in worse shape but it doesn’t seem like our guys are having a whole lotta fun or giving it their all out on the ice right now

I really like the trade. Gutsy to make the long-term move even when they’re still on the playoff bubble. Army knew that even with someone like Patches or Hoffman added, this year’s team simply wasn’t good enough.

And a 1st a good prospect is a good return. I’m liking Foley.

Ive never heard of Foley. Is he a candidate to ever make the NHL?

He is a former 3rd round pick.
20 year old
Plays out of Providence - NCAA
15 goals, 19 assist in 32 games.

Watched a highlight playlist a Jets fan posted, he plays a hard nosed style game and goes to the net with the puck. Limited skill but I could easily see him becoming a bottom 6 grinder capable to 30-40pts in the NHL.

So like a Nolan Stevens level prospect maybe ?

Some excerpts from the article;

Did I mention he can fly? Foley's crossovers and his ability to generate from a standstill allow him to create separation off the rush.
In the NHL, that's a huge asset on any line — especially for an organization that also has Jordan Kyrou, one of the other better-skating prospects in hockey, on the way.

All of these things will make him an NHL player. Given how many translatable NHL tools he has, it's just a matter of when — not if. But it might not be far off. With the right centre, he has a real chance to become a second-line forward at the NHL level.
For now, he joins a talented group of high-end prospects that includes Kyrou, Robert Thomas, and Klim Kostin.
Mix in the first-round pick and there's no denying the Blues, as struggling as they may be right now, received a strong package for Stastny.

We want all the third line players apparently.

Maybe there's some power-up or metamorphosis that Army has got his eye on, where he can transform three 3rd liners in one 2nd liner...and three 2nd liners into one 1st liner. If that's the case, I think it's pretty safe to say that the 27 3rd liners that we have in the system are soon to become three more 1st liners, just as soon as Army locates the correct spell or magic lamp.
