Why was the Lindholm thread stickied for 24 hours longer than the Monahan trade?
Because it was a bigger trade and maybe because people are just embarrassing themselves in here? Honestly just lock it at this point, not much more to discuss and most posts are just idiots taking shots at each other.

Another few positive observations about Monahan for you Jets fans. Even the weird ones :skeptic::laugh:.

If you watch him closely, you will see so many little things he does that make a difference. And you'll also see how freaking calm he is. His IQ is so high, and he sees the ice sooooo well, he gets to where he should be whether to accept a pass or to forecheck steps ahead of the play. And with the puck on his stick, he never panics. Always head up and making a play. He's so calm and is a calming influence on his teammates.

He makes those cliche'd "savvy, veteran" plays that really help his team and linemates. The little things that the sum of the parts are greater than the whole. I think he'll be a standout in the playoffs. I really like this player, as you all know by now. And that hasn't changed even though he's a Jet now.

He's worth it.

The proof is in the pudding.
Just because someone paid a certain amount for something doesn’t mean it’s worth that.

If he was as great as Habs fans try to portrait , they wouldn’t be ecstatic and rejoicing for the return like this

Pretty sure a lot of Habs fans are just happy because this entire board constantly devalue their assets as a hobby.

Screw the actual trade, this is a personal victory for them lol.

It's a huge L for them. Pushed the rebuild out past a decade now with no end in site. At some point the rebuild has to be over. But no it keeps going. And your going to be worse next year than this year.

Why don't the HF super duper experts wait until Monahan plays ten games to chatter in on their wisdom.

As for assessing Habs talent, only one rule applies to every fan....your team players are always more valuable...

A well articulated post with thought put into the reasons why...100 thumbs up!

Sure.

I’m not a huge fan of the trade, although that’s mainly due to the hope that Chevy would pull off an out of left field type trade like he sometimes does ala Nino/Names. I was hoping for a Boone Jenner trade myself.
That said, I’m excited to see how Monahan does between (presumably) Ehlers and Perfetti. That line may do very well with Ehlers zone entry and Perfetti’s passing abilities, Monahan may very well thrive there.
I’ve seen Monahan between Calgary and Montreal enough to know he’s a pro and that he gives it.
I hope this trade works out for both fan bases.

Because someone paid a 1st round pick means that the player in question was worth it at the time of the deal. It becomes official.

Well that’s just not how value works…

If i pay you $2 for a one dollar bill, is that bill now worth 2 dollars?

It's possible there's another stupid GM out there besides Chevy. Doesn't change the fact that Monahan isn't worth that kind of return.
That stupid GM has done the following over the last year:

-brought in a well respected veteran to add depth and plays the 200 ft game the Jets coaching staff asks, this veteran was the same player brought in by the Habs to help their rebuild and set an example for their young players

-bought out a player in Wheeler who served the franchise well but past his best days and perhaps a distraction in the room

-brought in depth forwards who are solid pros with high give a shit meters in Niedereider and Namesnikov

-signed their two cornerstone players in Hellebuyck and Scheifele to long term, cap friendly deals to keep them Jets for likely the remainder of their careers with lots of milage left

-turned a player in PLD who didn't want to resign in Winnipeg and seems to dislike hockey at times into 3 versatile forwards increasing their depth and adding more hard working pros into their lineup

-moving out Wheeler and PLD puts more onus and responsibilities for Ehlers and Perfetti, they've responded very well

-the GM listened to his coach after the playoffs VS LV and got to work making the changes + not making certain moves the armchair, ticktok GM's demanded (fire Bowness, trade #55 and 37)

Winnipeg has shown so far they play big boy hockey that the playoffs ultimately demands. They look equipped to keep this up in the stretch run, this is a team no one in the West wants to face.
