You have to know by now that many Canadians don't like Team USA. It has been like that for years, it's nothing new. Some would rather see Team Canada lose to the Russians than to Americans. Unlike Europeans who like to gang up against North Americans, most Canadians only care about Canada and nobody else. Personally, I hate the Czechs the most but I can't say that I am happy whenever the USA wins either.

I'll still cheer for Canada, though I wont be upset if they lose :D

Yea, good question...since all the dam Canadian snowbirds love to come down to Florida and annoy the heck out of us. Stay up there where you belong and freeze your butts off! :D
Well we're all going back up with all the hurricanes going by Florida. Btw, tourists bring money to Florida you know?

#¤!#"!¤ grrr I feel asleep some time during the 2nd intermission.

this has been a horrible horrible horrible world cup. First sweden sucks majorly, and now finland is in the final. Might as well stop watching hockey the next 40 years.
Poor Swedes. Life sucks when you're Swedish fan.

And there were Vikings from lots of other places in the 400-500 years that culture existed. Friesian, German, Polish, Estonian and Finnish. Of course probably nowhere as near as widespread in those countries as it was in Scandinavia but nonetheless, there were finnish vikings.
I don't believe that's correct. There were maybe Vikings located in Estonia and Finland, but the Finnish people I don't think have been Vikings. That's what I think but hey, I'm no historian and have never studied history of your corner of the world so what do I know eh?

Finland proved me wrong. I'm glad they did. This is a great win for Finland. It is the only other nation in the world where hockey is #1. Good luck in the final. :handclap:

I "hate" USA because of its nonexistent interest in hockey, not because of some political or other dumb reasons. Sorry if I sounded harsh. I'm always cheering for the more deserving team, and by that I mean real hockey places like Finland and Canada or hockey maniac cities like Calgary, Montreal and Vancouver.

So I don't hate USA at all. I am just discusted by the fact that people in USA don't care about hockey. :dunno: :shakehead

Please try to understand... I'm such a hockey lover myself...
Yeah, I'm with you. I find it very hard to like a team where its fans don't give a darn. You rather see a team that can bring lots of joy to a nation that truly care.

Well whats the excuse for Canadian fans being happy the USA basketball team lost. I mean there wasnt a Canadian team there, so why not support your brothers to the south...but again...it was more haha USA lost...or the Olympics is biased to the US...I mean whats the excuse there too?
Brothers? Most Canadians consider Americans as bullies.

Where I live in America, there are TONS of PASSIONATE hockey fans. But, once again, hockey interest in America is very concentrated. Mostly in the Northeast, Minnesota, and Michigan. Those regions do have tons and tons of educated hockey fans who are very passionate. If the U.S. won, there would be joy in a lot of America.

I never heard of that??? All I know is remember Gretzky whining about how they are being conspired against during the olympics...i didnt see it the other way around?
I guess you don't frequent different message boards. When comes World Championships time, log on the official site and read the posts in the discussion forum. You get to know what European media feed the fans and you'll realise that they are very biased against North American hockey.

please dont bring back the memories of last year's playoffs...freakin canadiens!!! :joker:

I feel your pain brother :) ...and for the record I don't hate Americans...our two countries are pretty much alike.....o.k. except for maybe a couple of things, we have medicare, fewer guns, and multi-colored money, colder weather (in some cases) and metric (and I hate the metric system)....besides that we are pretty much the same............kind of like America "lite"

One thing I do have to comment on though is the misconception, by some (not all mind you) Americans who think that all of Canada is a frozen tundra, covered in snow for 11 months of the year. Sure maybe the extreme northern part of Canada fits that description (not that I'd know cuz I've never been there), but c'mon we're talking "Arctic circle" north here. I can't speak for all of Canada, but where I live (near Halifax N.S.) we get t.v. feeds from Boston so I see their weather reports on a regular basis, and for the most part, our weather up here where I live pretty much mirrors what I see on the Boston stations. Maybe not identical as Bostons summers may get a wee bit warmer...but from what I've seen there's usually very little differences in temperatures. Heck....sometimes I can even go up to 2 weeks in the summer when I don't have to wear a parka (just kidding).

Did I mention, I hate metric  :lol

It sucks even more when you're a Swedish fan. If you're a Swede and your team is unsuccessful, who you gonna cheer for? I care about the NHL only for the players to see who's going to be good for Team Canada because international hockey is what I really like. Whether the NHL is boring or not, life is still fine to me since that's not what I care for.

He's an excellent goalie but the finns won it because they are a team and they play sooo well disciplined! If ever defensive hockey can be entertaining, this was.

I agree. I just got back to my office after attending the game, and I have to say that was one heck of a display by Finland. They deserved to win that game. My hat's off to them, and if they play Canada as hard as they played us, Tuesday night's game is going to be a terrific show.

How do you say "congratulations" in Finnish? I was saying it in English to all the Finnish fans I could find after tonight's game, but I don't think most of them understood what I was saying. Half of them probably thought I was insulting them. :D

That's not what I've heard. I know that states like Minnesota and Michigan like hockey but even in those regions, there's barely any interest in the World Cup tournament.

You're complaining about the the lack of interest for hockey in the USA and you don't even live here? Try being a hockey fan in the US and tell us how it is. Hockey is low on the totem poll except in the Northeast and the Northern midwest, but the fans in these areas are very passionate. So you're saying us real fans aren't deserving of our country winning? This may seem harsh, but ignorance of your post is mind boggling.
