I think some of you don't really understand the expectations of Canada going into this world cup. We weren't expected to make it so just scoring and having a solid performance against Belgium is enough to meet expectations for this team.

I'm not going to attack Herdman too much over a loss to Croatia considering a draw against them would be good and lucky result. He is the father of Canadian soccer and built both the women and the men's program from the ground up and deserves a ton of credit for making us a respectable team

Herdman had nothing to do with who took the penalty, Davies grabbed the ball right away. Unless he specifically made him the designated penalty taker, which I doubt.

It's not like he's new to the WC either he coached the women's side well. How does he make such a big mistake by saying "F Croatia"

100% but OTOH, some of the decisions he's made during the WC are brutal (not even talking about the hot mic here which as an honest mistake though he should have deflected when asked). Only wanting to sub Hutchinson at the 55th and then keeping him on because the players want to when the game is 2-1 and Hutchinson is getting utterly abused out there is...Jesus Christ, that's bad. As it not game-planning for Davies not to be the one taking a PK if one is awarded (in such high stakes with such a squad, don't let the players decide).

It seeems like he coached to be friends instead of to win.

That he had nothing to do with it is a mistake in and of itself. It seems like the team bowed to Davies because he's the best overall player instead of the best bet to take a PK.

The guy showed no respect for his opponent then would not shake the Croatian coach hand after the game. No class!

I do think he should have found Dalic and congratulated him. Maybe there is more to the story... I know the Borjan thing is rumbling around out there and maybe there is something else.

Just proud of the boys... nothing but proud.

This Herdman story is so stupid.

Who cares what he said before the game? He's trying to motivate his team. They lost. Leave it there.

Do you know how many people predict wins for their team and their team loses? Happens so often and few have it shoved right in their face that they lost.

Croatia should shut up and be gracious. They got to the last World Cup final. Beating a Canada team eliminated after two games should not be viewed as a big achievement for them.

Also, very impressed by Buchanan for Canada. Surprised he's a winger because I think he plays with a ton of bite in his game that you'd like to see with a midfielder. Not sure he has the finishing or crossing skills considering his stats, but I would totally buy him to be a CM or RCM.

KdB has a new record for turnovers (27) in a XXI century WC game this year. He's one turnover short of the alltime record (28) hold by.... De Bruyne himself (vs France 2018).

Maybe the Canadian coach should show some respect to his opponent and not double down in his comment the next day. They got there ass kicked show some class and shake the coaches hand after the game. Classless prick!

Technically correct, but since Australia left, Oceania isn't represented at the world cup. So do they really count in the context of a discussion about how various confederations will do at future world cups? IMO it's fair to say that in this context, it is between CONCACAF & AFC for weakest confederation.
