prescription: I think your problem is the same as the refs. You were thinking before the game that this would be the beating of a lifetime and had your mind set on "USA is the better team, they will win" and that makes you deny the fact that it has been a very equal matchup without the ridiculous reffing.

USA has tons of skill and they are showing it in scoring goals. They will be much better against Canada. This ref should not get any more games. He is not worth it, thats the bottom line.

I predicted a 5-3 USA win with Ramo standing on his head and getting left out to dry.

I don't think that classifies for a "beating of a lifetime", and has been the way the game has went for the most part.

The US IS the better team and they SHOULD win every game of this tournament. If they don't, they simply didn't play well enough. Even if every call goes against the US in the Canada game or the Swiss game or any game for that matter I'd still blame them losing on the fact that they got outplayed and didn't overcome the BS.

You're right. It's a conspiracy.

No, it's not. The ref just let the hype and rankings get the better of him before the game, and is not calling the actual play on ice but how he thinks this game should have went.

I am not watching the game but by the sounds of it the ref sucks in this one too. It's about time the IIHF starts getting better refs to these tournaments. Some of these guys are brutal and cost teams games and make potientally good games brutal to watch.

this is always a problem in international sports though. i have seen a lot of soccer games extremely poorly officiated as well..

I'm a US fan first and a Russian fan second (since I AM Russian).

Russia's team this year is not good. All based around Malkin. I'm not liking their chances overall.
[OFFTOPIC]
Well, I disagree with you here. Imo, We have better team. Malkin just head above everyone on this team ... and on this tournament, that's why it's looked so. Last year we had Parshin and Shafigulin as 4th line players, this year we have Lisin and Younkov. Compare! This year our 3rd pair is Zuvarev - Lyamin. Yes, we haven't Ovechkin but overall depth is a better, IMO.
[/OFFTOPIC]

Give the Finnish goalie some credit.

I definately do. I'm a big Ramo fan and like him a lot more than I do Rask. I think he's stood on his head tonight and is the only reason this game isn't a blowout with the way the calls went.

What looked to be the most competitive WJC in years has now been tainted by poor officiating. Lets hope something will be done and this won't be carried over to the elimination round.

It doesn't make it acceptable though. Some of these refs shouldn't be allowed to ref again at this tournament. They are awful.

See, I like the top end of the Russian team. It's just dangerous. I just don't think they have enough full-out skill to get the gold in this tourny. I think it will come down to the Finns and the Russians for the bronze. I mean, I'd like to see a USA / Russia gold medal game but I just don't know if the Russians will get far enough.

He has been good, but nothing spectacular. Few very good saves but that is just normal.

I agree this is awful and I thought reffing in the WCHA was bad at times :biglaugh:

still trolling eh?
So you find no offense with the officiating with the tourney so far? OH wait, you haven't watched a single game tonight. Watch the Canadian game, and this game and get back to me.

Rämö hasn't been his self tonight. Two soft goals normally don't happen, and rebound control is a tad better as well.

Very nice wrister by Tukonen, nicely done.

Lose your nasty bias and then start posting. Then you might get some "respect" around here. But you're just trying to get everyone to fight.

And goal Finland.

I really don't like Frazee in net at all and hope Schnieder plays more.

i agree. I am really not sure about that but I tihnk that is part of the reason you get some really weak refs is because they don't go for the best refs, instead trying to get a ref from country A or country B so that they have an "unbiased" diverse group (so they don't have like half the refs being from Canada or Czech Republic). And if a ref from country B is not allowed to ref anymore games Country B might start complaining...

Isn't this what we say every year, though?
Oh yeah I agree. I have been wtaching this tournament for over a decade now but the reffing hasn't improved one bit. It's a disgrace. This year I think it has even taken a step backwards. Last year I thought the reffing wasn't too bad.

Yeah. Basically just to keep everyone happy, blah blah. It's a stupid thing. I'd rather see the best available refs doing the games.

Everybody who is actually watching the game says the officiating is poor and Finland has suffered teh most.

Some US people who are listening the game claim otherwise based on USA hockey radio announcers :sarcasm:

Maybe it's you who should lose not only the bias but commenting based on something you don't see eh?
