Reallllly curious to see what the #'s look like if/when they are made public.

I'm not going to judge/jury this because the last 2+ years have demonstrated that pursuit is simply a losing proposition. But 4/250...will be difficult to justify.

There has to be more to it than that. If Mark Masters has Omicron, Team Canada players are likely about to have an outbreak. He's been doing features with the players at the hotel all week.

I was disappointed to hear they were in public hotels. I really thought they were in a bubble and only in their own hotels/motels.

Even though they didn't mingle, you do wonder.

Exactly. They're in the same elevators, lobbies, hallways etc as the public. So are the team staff, TSN employees, etc.

nhl next? crazy days

No.

The thing with the WJC is they technically reached the point where a team could have won the gold medal by forfeit after reaching the final by forfeit. Which is by all standards would have been the lamest victory in the WJC history.

The NHL have plenty of time to figure it out and can postpone games without compromising the integrity of the season.

That’s exactly the kind of stuff they should’ve limited or gone virtual with. The whole tournament planning was a failure

TSN had Masters on and he's positive and he's all smiles and obviously not dying and these are young athletes all doubled vaxx and they still f***ing cancel it after 4 cases.

I mean cmon what the f*** did the idiots at the IIHF think, that they would be able to go without cases for the whole tourney? With a soft bubble with wedding receptions in the same hotel as some teams are staying?

What a f***ing bunch of amateurs at the IIHF. Shame on them.

Well, this really sucks. So stupid. Everyone is vaccinated. Let's get on with it for f*** sake's.

If they have symptoms isolate them, but otherwise play with who you have. Terrible decision.

Now, the kids have to Quarantine in Canada before heading home. What a waste of everyone's time.
The whole thing is so amateurish. What's the point of getting vaccinated if you're still going to be contagious and a danger to who?? Other vaccinated people???

Makes absolutely no sense and I dare someone to make any out of it.

I do however agree that scheduling has complicated the arc of things a bit.

Hope you’re enjoying the lovely weather we’ve had lately

I still love you

Cancel culture strikes again.

In all seriousness, the way they way this was handled is curious as can be. Holding a tournament in Winter already heightens the possibility of spreads based on past data and general common sense, so whether one is super cautious, pragmatic or anti-vax, the entire tournament's set up was incompatible with the streams of logic.

Plus the NHL has a taxi squad and can recall players till the cows come home…..a WJC team not so much……

Amazing...everyone having fun yet? Lots of money gone poof! But hey...we have to think of all the sick players that tested positive in the hospital dying...oh wait...yeah.

A pandemic doesn’t come with a study manual. There is 7 billion people to manage and an economy…….not exactly like organizing an orgy at the playboy mansion eh

Sure it does, they even mocked it up just prior to the actual pandemic. It was called Event 201 link below...looks like they botched it though.

The Event 201 scenario | A pandemic tabletop exercise

Anyways I really feel bad for the kids man...big stage for these guys, some may never get a shot again...
