I do however agree that scheduling has complicated the arc of things a bit.

Hope you’re enjoying the lovely weather we’ve had lately

Lol dank.

This sucks. For some reason I felt the need to watch highlights of M.P.P’s game tying goal in Sochi along with her hat-trick of golden goals.Followed by Canada’s penalty kicks for gold in Tokyo. :tinker:

Definitely blame the IIHF and Hockey Canada for the poor planning. Roommates? No bubble? I understand that omicron is very recent but I doubt hotels are overbooked with travelers at the moment in Edmonton and Red Deer, they should’ve been able to adjust quickly

Sad for the players and you hardcore fans.

But in reality, it’s one hockey tourney. That’s it, that’s all.

It is just a tourney, but it was a colossal waste of money and time. I guess the bright side of things, other organizations can learn from the IIHF and see what NOT to do when hosting a tournament.

Covid is here to stay, but this was so poorly run.

You’ll see it appear in the southern parts of the US. Don’t be surprised if it happens. IIHF wants a national federation to organize it. My guess is USA Hockey.

Put the damn thing in Texas. No one gives a shit about Covid down there, and they actually did a great job hosting u18s last Spring.

No point holding WJC in August. National tryout camps for 2023 WJC in Russia are held then, as well as NHL rookie camps & the Hlinka tournament.

The freaking draft is in July.

June is the Final Four and Stanley Cup Finals.

The u18s are in late April. Problem is Junior teams are in playoffs, so teams in that situation won't release players.

Best options is probably late February/early March.

After the memorial cup finals its probably fine.

But they should restart the whole selection (drafting of players) as well.

They should build a bubble to hold U18 and U20 at the same spot, male and female.

Agreed

My personal favourite here in Ontario is I can eat a meal side by side with you in a restaurant but can’t eat anything side by side in my individual seat at a movie theatre. Explain that one. Anyways, everyone’s entitled to their own opinion on Covid. I believed the danger when the original virus and Delta came and went but now it’s getting a little silly when most aren’t having symptoms but we’re still reacting like it.

The whole point of vaccinations was to lessen the effects to a common cold/flu rather than the pneumonia that was the original virus that created extreme stress on hospitals.

I know people who have tested positive recently (not myself) and symptoms are none or mild.

12,000 cases in Ontario and barely any hospitalizations.

It's working. It's time to move on.
