The shingles vaccine has a time limit. You may want to repeat every 5 to 10 years.

Can confirm. Have the shingles vaccine but got shingles ~3 years ago.

Doc asked me, "any significant stressors in your work/personal life?"

Me, "not really, just finished up a big work contract, now taking a month off to relax and travel - but I did just spend a week with my mother-in-law."

Doc, "well, there's our answer"

Players are pissed and they should be. It's a huge tournament for them, but also it's the freaking Holiday season. You get them to commit to being away from their families over Christmas and New Year's then cancel.

Just a farce, and a really bad look for Hockey Canada.

and then get them to sit in Edmonton for however many days in quarantine. Lol. Talk about the downside case playing out…basically the worst possible outcome for all parties except the hotel operators.

The International Ice Hockey Federation shut it down, why is it a bad look for Hockey Canada?

HC hosted the tournament and was responsible for hotels, transport, protocols, etc. At this point it is what it is, but all parties come out looking foolish here…

Memorial Cup is early June this year. Don't think NHL would want WJC up against NHL playoffs. Think June & August are terrible months to hold it. Too many events.

July is dead of summer. Ice will be terrible. Plus, draft & draft camps.

April-May playoffs in all leagues world over & World Championship.

February/March seems best possible time, but don't think they can turn around that quickly.

Nah I think at the same time as the Stanley cup is a great moment, a lot of people disconnect from the cup final when it's not their teams. Stanley cup finals are an abysmal rating show. Anyway, the NHL isn't the deciding body (IIHF) on this, who gives a shit what they think.

February is way too early, Omicron won't be done, Omicron vaccines won't be out.

I think the women played an international tournament in the heart of the summer earlier this year.

The Canada cup/world cup was a tournament that traditionally started in August as well.

So I don't really buy the ice conditions being a major a factor in staging a summer tournament.

If they are going to reboot this tournament, I think it's the only window that makes sense.

And if the protocols aren't going to change, they definitely need to setup a proper bubble. I'm astonished that they thought they could go covid free without one this time around.

On the NHL Network during the 1st intermisson they had the head of USA's program I believe as I missed his title since I wasn't really paying attention. They asked him about the rumors of the WJC's being picked back up in the summer, he didn't say no, he said they would wait and see who the olympics go or something to that effect.

Will be interesting to see if they do hold this over the summer and if so can they get it in before the draft.

Really wanted it held before the draft; hopefully they keep to their commitment that those who qualified last December can still play regardless of possibly aging out.

It will also mess with summer camps for the 2023 WJCs, and I suppose there will have to be some kind of pre-tournament camp too held in late July.

It will make it a long season for some of these kids.

Take Guhle. If he gets to Memorial Cup, well, that's June 29th. Then Habs camp. Then WJC camp then WJC tournament. Then Habs main camp. Then potentially AHL camp.

Not a lot of time for a quality off-season training program.

Ditto Wright. Potentially Memorial Cup to Draft to Draft Camp to WJC Camp then tournament to NHL camp.

A lot of these kids missed so much hockey the last two years, I think it’ll be good for them long term.
