Found this link while browsing other message boards: Realgud draft simulator

Allows you to simulate the draft this year, this was my draft:

14 (1). Brayden Yager (C)
90 (3). Hunter Brzustewicz (RD)
142 (5). Matthew Mania (RD)
174 (6). Isac Born (C)
217 (7). Jan Spunar (G)
221 (7). Justin Kipkie (LD)

Obviously nothing more than a fun five minutes when you're bored at work.
love your first pick,
the second, a little cannon ball that needs to learn how to shoot. probably ok for where you picked him.
after that, i give you props for even knowing their names.

My picks:14 (1). Axel Sandin Pellikka (RD)
90 (3). William Whitelaw (RW)
142 (5). Jaden Lipinski (C)
174 (6). Damian Clara (G)
217 (7). Jordan Tourigny (RD)
221 (7). Ty Higgins (RD)

Just went by name vibes and stats for the later picks.

Couple productive forwards, a huge goalie, a couple productive, smaller RD.
your 1st pick is a good one rd and lots of up side.
2nd is a steal at 90

Can't wait to add a quality piece at 14th overall. Who knows maybe they'll move up into the top 10, yes! I can't wait very excited!

The EP Rinkside Draft Guide was released today. It's 1664 pages long.

Again, let me know if there's any info you'd like from it. I won't be copying-pasting entire reports but can offer some notes.

They've got Calum Ritchie ranked as 14 overall. "Shades of Joel Eriksson Ek, Mark Scheifele"

Last year they had Pickering as 16 overall.

Interesting that they've got Yager ranked 22, one of the guys I've seen talked about the most in this thread.

i started out with a high opinion of ritchie but he didn't impress jacob during the u18's So i went with yager's up-side, and he has it in spades. yeah, it's a risk but i think we need to swing for the fence. there are many players far safer than yager but few with his up-side

Based on this report I want Barlow:

"You want him on your team. You’re loath to see him on the opposite bench. That sort of guy. You get the idea."

Seems to have a booming shot and loves garbage goals as well.
with how close i feel the players are ranked, wing or ld is not going to be my choice at 14

More and more people talking about Michkov going into a free fall at the draft. Couple places having him falling out of the top-10 entirely.

And no, I did not make any of those names up.

Axel Sandin Pelikka - D like

I keep seeing Sawchyn moving up but I'm not sure why. He have a good Memorial Cup or something? In one of the mocks I even got him with our 3rd round pick.

The EP guide mentions this and says that they are sticking out their necks on him, and will either look like genuises or complete buffoons.

Simachev - Shades of: Jaccob Slavin; K'Andre Miller. #1 in this draft in both neutral zone defending and as a shutdown defenseman. Has other top 5 rankings for fourway mobility, straightline skating, hardest hitter, and transitional dman. His highest grades are his skating and physical play. But the 4 other categories are at least a 5 which I believe means at least NHL quality.

“All of his main abilities, his skating, handling, and physicality project as high-end in the NHL. And as he’s 6-foot-4. He probably has one of the largest wingspans in the whole draft, too…Strictly in terms of tools, Simashev is an NHL team’s dream.”

Sawchyn - Shades of: Troy Terry; Robert Thomas. His highest grades are in puckhandling, hockey sense, and passing. All rated at least a 5. They say his "lack of production" is because of how deep Seattle was.

"He’s a skilled handler, a cunning passer, and has a lengthy track record of generating offence at a commendable clip on top teams. There have been flashes of skill and creativity that would place
him in the top 10 of this class. Furthermore, there are at least trace amounts of dog in his DNA [willingness to battle from what I gather]."

sounds great. i would pass on simashev simply because he's a lefty and i have rd or center as my preferred picks at 14

Fair amount of Slovaks this year.

Dvorský is still my dark horse pick.

If we're past like the first 8 picks and he's still on the board then the Pens should trade whatever to try and move up and get him.

Don't care that he won't come over for a while. That's a player that could spearhead us into the next era of Pens hockey.

I don't see how he gets past Washington, St. Louis, or Detroit though. None of those teams are afraid of Russian players.

Agreed across the board. Washington's the one team I am pretty confident he won't make it past, near 100% sure. Can't find a better landing spot than the team with Putin's lapdog when it comes to getting a Russian prospect out of that country and over here.

if he falls out of the top 5 we need to be trying to trade up. but I'm not sure what we have to do that.

I feel like Washington is where he's going to end up for sure.

Yeah, I like what I've read about him, but in true HF tradition, I have never seen him play a game and never will until we draft him, and then I'll pontificate like the pontifex about him.
