I think I can sum up both posts with this. BB didn't do much in regards to hiring Jarrod Smith he pretty much said as much in regards to not having many interviews if any at all. Now the stuff with Kris Newbury it's fine that you hired him it's not fine that you didn't know that this was possibly coming by vetting things.

I was a bit surprised with no comment after the game about this but on the other hand I wasn't. The most likely thing would have been saying "Kris Newbury will no longer be with the team for the remainder of the year." Just your typical boilerplate statement.

Now we are at the point where you don't want to make a 1-2 day story into a 1-2 week story. Get the lawyers to work their OT get Newbury's severance and then it's all done. You don't need to make any statements because you took care of it. Longer this goes on the worse it looks.

Looking back. Newberry was assistant at Trenton as well as was coaching the U16 for Quinte Red Devils to start the season. When he was hired, he said this came about quick and hadn't been to the new rink yet. Bowler commented Newberry's coaching at the grass roots level was really attractive and he certainly has a future as a coach. The worst comment was Newberry " looking forward to workinh with the kids passing his knowledge but also teaching them to be a good human in life" yikes. Bowler high praise and Newberry comments tells me it was a quick exit in Trenton and a quick hastily hire in Windsor. Funny is Trenton won't comment either regarding Smiths suspension or the reason and made no address that I can find that Newberry left or was gone or let go. Nuttin

Disappointed Parker never even mentioned Newberry absence. Does he work for the Star or the Spits lol. At least mention he's gone and the team would not comment. Geesh
Not the best reporting last few years

I retract my comments about Parker not mentioning it earlier article about the game. Obviously he contacted Newberry and others digging for more info. Good job Jim Parker 👏 👍

Spits have called up forwards Alec Stewart and Nathan Gaymes to play tonight in Flint as Ethan Martin and Jack Nesbitt are both out with sickness.
Martin sat out last night and replaced by Antonio Tonin.

So, what's the rest of the story?

I know that the flu/colds are going through the team right now so I'm not overly surprised.

Regarding Gaymes looking forward to seeing the just turned 18 year old RW in action, has had a nice year in La Salle to date in 45 games 20G,14A,34 Pts,70 Pim,plays an aggressive game, looked good at camp,5 of his goals have been game winners, love it when a 15th rounder makes the team,Noah Morneau did it last year and Saverio Posa did it in 2009,he wound up being captain, now an assistant coach with Flint.
Spits with nice success with later round picks.

6 players who need a new zip code next season. Tom's, Zhugin, Cristoforo, Smith, Morneau, EIchler. 6 of the top 7 worst minus players on the team. Davis is in the top 7 but he has greatly improved and is a rookie. This year's teams failure is not offense. It has been non'responsible defensive play. A pattern for a while now. I don't give a rats ass that Cristoforo has 36 points when you are a -27. Oh yes, I will hear he is only 17 and has potential. So is Walton and Woodall who are a -14 and -11 respectively. Same team and goalie. Woodall has 22 pts 8 less games played. Off season draft 2 imports or trade for 1 already over here. Clear out Smith and Morneau and bring in 2 better qualified OA'S. That shouldn't be hard. Move Cristoforo while you might get something decrnt in return. Woodall will fill his skates offensively and will get physically involved.

I disagree regarding Christoforo, Eichler and Morneau, agree with Smith and Toms, will add in Struthers to go as well. My feelings on Zhugin would stay if a good Euro can't be convinced to be here, then I am willing of course to move on from him.
Christoforo was a -22 after the 1st 21 games before Smith was let go,since then in 35 games he is a -5,that's a huge improvement toss in his offensive abilities no reason to move, now if he was a 19 year old perhaps but not now.
Morneau has improved enough for me to keep him next year perfect 3rd line Center for me,should mention in 1st 20 games he was -16,next 34 games -10
As for Eichler he just turned 18 in December, one of the very few physical Dman on this team, has improved overall since the season started, only was -11 before Smith let go,only -3 more despite playing 13 games more.
Finally no need to keep Smith,Toms and as I noted Struthers, all OA eligible ,that we agree on.

All agree, Toms gone, Smith and Struthers should be gone. Zhugin. I'm not impressed at all. No brainer. Eichler has only 8 points and 2nd worst minus behind Cristoforo. Get rid of both and draft 1 and trade for another at start of season. Upside to Cristoforo is he will get points. Considerations, Excellent shot blocking. However, zero physical presence. Below average shot. Turnover King. When scoring 36 points but at same time returning worst D -27 is not acceptable. We moved a 4th overall drafted Miedema and noone blinked an eye. Nice kid, yes. Not sure why the constant defending of 74. Games played he is way ahead of Woodall and Walton, he is not improving at his position. Defense. Put him as a forward and I have less issues. With Morneau, although works hard, chips in offensively, he is also the worst minus of our Natural centers. Not a shutdown 3rd line Center. If you are only a 3rd liner. 3rd line talent should not be an OA. We moved OA'S Peer, Christopoulis, Dionicio, Mancini, Sobolev this year. Is he good as a 15th rounder. Yes. Is he better than anyone of those OA's that were moved or acquired this year? Big NO.

I value others opinions about this team but for me I'm going to hit pause until the end of the season. I'm also going to wait on the NHL draft to see what others ( the pros) think of these players.
Yes most of who you talk about are not in any conversation I'm sure. Who gets drafted and who is a surprising pick or passed over will be a eye opener.
The OA's can wait as well as some may chose school and drop out of the conversation.
Again enjoy the discussion but I'm just got to wait to form my opinion. Be safe.

Sure it is early. Not like we have the playoffs to look forward to lol. Are you watching the game another 2-0 shorthanded break with our steller D on the ice out of position??

Yes watching. Thinking about switching games. Awful hockey. Sure glad I'm not playing goalie tonight, lol.

I will be watching the playoffs all the way to the end. Just not having to worry about winning or losing, just good hockey.
