The Newbury thing is interesting. Only been with the team two months and gets a season long suspension from Hockey Canada?

Broadcast mentioned “he won’t be back this season”.

I’d have to imagine a suspension two months into a job, and you won’t be back, period.

Curious if any info has slipped out. Seems Weird for the broadcast team to leak that

Well that is the end of any chance to meet London in round 1 . All of the Bottom 4 teams lost tonight so no change in the pick status.

I didn't see him as returning anyway. I think you will see a clear sweep behind the bench.

I didn’t think it was an awful game. Fluky 5th goal, good way to lose. A little closer to the bottom and we didn’t get our teeth kicked in.

With Mancini's goal I had to do a little digging, and he's the only player we've traded this year that has a higher Points Per Game number with his new club than he did while here. Pretty unexpected with everyone going to better teams.

Interview. 1st question. Why are you not with Trenton any longer? Was there an interview lol. Does Bowler know what references are? All legitimate questions now and to at least say to McLeod and Warriner, I will not comment about it is unacceptable.

Hockey Canada suspended Trenton head coach/GM for 4 weeks in January. Trenton won't comment why because 3rd party Hockey Canada was brought in to do an investigation. Related with Newberry's suspension?? Maybe , Maybe not but the secrecy is odd. Where is the new transparency promised by Hockey Canada after the WJC debacle?? Same old shit show. I am not insinuating this is another some type of an assault case. Just divulge the reason.

Coulson Pitre revenge gane, add a goal from Mancini... Ownership should be with Bowler tomorrow "Lucy you got some splanin to do." More to do with Newbury but you get the point. Bowler shouldn't be around for this draft.
Don't disagree but the draft is 5 weeks away. Is there someone that is up to speed on minor midgets that is available?

From what I understand, it's all a part of the same situation. Right now, Bowler seems to be pointing to Hockey Canada while refusing to comment. However, that can't last. He has to release a statement or something because you don't just lose your assistant coach for a month and go "yeah, talk to (someone else)." There are questions to ask and he can't dodge it.

If you really trust Evola you let him cook. For better or worse you need to have the discussion of whether or not Bowler should return. Prospects will want to know who their coach is, they will also want to know the Newbury situation and how it got to that point. Teenagers want to be in a place where they feel safe and comfortable. Newbury was employed for 67 days and got suspended. Smith was employed for 110 days or so and was let go. I don't know how much rope Bowler gets but you can only make so many mistakes.

I think this is a pivotal moment for Bowler. The Smith and deadline stuff aside, this Newbury thing is a different beast. You're talking about a hiring of a guy who ended up being involved in off-ice issues with his previous club. How does Bowler handle this? Does he ignore it? Does he come out and say "this is our situation..."? If he pretends nothing is happening, that's a huge negative to me. At the very least, make a statement to address everything you know about the situation, so the public knows that you're being transparent. That will go a long way.

Oh boy not good with the Newbury thing.

Regarding the game, this loss basically all but secures no playoffs and at least the 3rd overall pick.

Going to be an interesting offseason.

Ok, some thoughts before I pass out...

Goals against...

1. Clattenburg skates into about the 35-40 foot mark and wrists it glove side. I think Donoso should have had that.
2. Mancini throws it on net from the point and it beats Donoso. That's almost an every-game thing. With 5s left? That's tough. You can't let that one in.
3. Spits lose the puck to the blocker side of Donoso. Firebirds get it, throw it low on Donoso, and somehow it goes in. Again... can't allow that.
4. Abraham goes to bat the puck to Cristoforo but there are two Firebirds right on them. Pitre steals the puck, has momentum, blows past both Spitfires, and easily puts it home. Abraham can't make that pass; it's far too dangerous. Cristoforo tried to get back but knew he had no chance.
5. Aspinall throws it at the net, it hits Toure, and goes in. That's just an unlucky bounce.

- Being up 3-1 and 4-2 are positive signs.
- Allowing three goals in the third... not so much.
- I like Davis' game; he's in everything and seems to be having fun.
- Greentree with another quiet two-point night. Though, he was LOVING Davis' one goal. I don't think I've seen Greentree happier than when Davis scores haha
- Woodall. Breakaway. Goal. Sure.
- Donoso is quickly becoming the goaltender who makes the big saves but allows the soft goals. I've said this for a while - you can count on at least one point shot making it through every time he's in goal.
- The reason the Abraham high stick wasn't a penalty was because they ruled it a "follow through." Nothing you can do there.
- Again, I hope the club says something about Newbury because it's a noticeable absence and you can't just ignore it.
- Martin had a cold/flu type thing and that's why he was out. It's been going through the team... and pretty much the entire city from what I've heard (myself included).

All they can do at this point is aim for the win on Friday and go from there. I'm not against the playoffs but I'm also not against a top-four pick. Give me one of the big three forwards and I'm content. The Wassilyn Watch? Bomb for Belchetz? Vacate for Valentini? I'm down for that.

I want to know what Bowler knew and when. If he knew before hiring, it shouldn't have happened.
Hardly think that's going to happen.. at least all of it.

Ya far along to replace the person making the draft choices. Still don't think Bowler will be let go but he sure is building a case.

No. Been there, done that, and never bothered to buy the t-shirt.

Very good chance you won't hear from Bowler. Organization probably has lawyers looking at the contract so they can let him go. Contract was probably for more than just this year. Extremely difficult to fire for cause in this province. If Newbury lied during the interview that would help. Of course the process can become long and ugly though. Best get the lawyers involved give Newbury his severance and get on your way. There's no way you can bring Newbury back.

Well not always good at math but the unfortunate # for the Spits to miss the playoffs is 6 games. Any combination of a Flint win or a Spits loss equalling 12 points will do it. Of course overtime games will mess the number up but 12 points is the number now. Just need the Petes and Icedogs to win some games. I think Sarnia will stay ahead of the Spits so looks like at this point Spits will pick 3rd. Now after I post this Spits will go on a winning streak. Lol. Be safe.

Don’t expect the Spits to say little, if anything. It could be worse. The situation in Peterborough is worse.

Noticed the Donoso thing as well. At this point Costanzo is their best option in net.

"The Savage Group" have their reputation on the line. Careful, controllable steps are their usual mantra. Negative feedback is not what this group would want.

After a season of highly contentious decisions, such as not searching for a "proper"HC, JS named head coach, easy does it Torres appointment, trading away their 9 best players, and now "The HC Newbury Gate".

Logic and pressure may be taking BB down !

This is a very important Spitfire draft is quickly approaching. This is a chance to correct the direction the team is going. BB gambled when he traded the 9 players away (to repair their draft list). If the franchise is to be righted, then smart decisions have to direct the course of action.

This has been one of the worst seasons on record, and I am sure "The Savage Group", will want this corrected !

It hurts to say, "The Spits' are falling even further behind London !!!!!!

Disappointed Parker never even mentioned Newberry absence. Does he work for the Star or the Spits lol. At least mention he's gone and the team would not comment. Geesh
